Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players think they may have discovered the game's next DLC character, and the clue has been staring us in the face since launch.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate boasts the biggest roster in franchise history, including every playable character that has ever existed and then some. Not only that, but more characters have been added via DLC and there are still more to come. Piranha Plant was the first DLC unleashed on Ultimate players, and more recently Persona 5's Joker joined the battle.

Nintendo has promised that there are more characters to come. However, as was proved when Final Fantasy VII's Cloud was added to the franchise, those characters could almost literally be anyone from any game. That being said, some players believe they have discovered who one of them is going to be, and they have technically been in the game since it launched.

If you look very closely at the ice in Ultimate's battle stage (see above), you will notice that Rayman is encased inside. This has understandably led to speculation that at some point, Rayman will be released and become a playable character. It certainly seems odd to have him there unless there is a reason for it, although it wouldn't be the strangest thing Smash developers have ever done.

Game Rant highlights why Rayman probably won't be one of Ultimate's remaining DLC characters. For starters, he was already technically a part of the game. Rayman is an assist trophy, so it would be odd for Nintendo to add him to the game as a playable character when that mechanic is already in place. It has also been confirmed that Rayman has been encased in that ice all along, so why wouldn't Nintendo have announced something before now?

As optimists, we would like to believe that not only is Rayman going to be a DLC character, but all of the other DLC characters are also hidden in plain sight. Perhaps all of them are there and we just haven't noticed. Joker may have even been creatively hidden somewhere. We will just have to wait and see. Fingers crossed Nintendo announces Ultimate's next DLC character at E3.
