Pillow Castle Games’ perception-testing, perspective-skewing, reality-bending, first-person puzzler Superliminal recently launched on Steam, and has already firmly established itself in the platform’s Very Positive review section. The game’s Steam launch was accompanied by an update that brought new features, added support for Mac and Linux, as well as new Developer Commentary and Challenge Modes.

As is often common with new Steam launches, Superliminial has a celebratory 20% discounted price, from $19.99 to $15.99, which will last until November 12, 2020. There’s also a bundle pack available containing the game and soundtrack, also discounted (28%) from $27.98 to $20.14. And there’s no discount price ending date listed with the bundle.

ICYMI, Superliminal is a first-person “forced-perspective” puzzle game that uses “the ambiguity of depth” to allow you “to explore a surreal world by manipulating objects in physical space according to their perspective.” This bizarre mechanic is translated in-game through your character waking up “in a surprisingly lucid dream”. In order to find and use the exits, you must first solve some incredible puzzles, taking methods and patterns learned from one puzzle and seeing if they apply to the next. If you dropped Portal, The Stanley Parable, and The Talos Principle into a mixer, Superliminal is what you’d get.

In addition to the game, the Steam launch included a few special features. According to the Steam page notes, Superliminal has a Developer Commentary mode available that reveals some of the interesting behind-the-scenes details. The extensive commentary is available throughout the entire game, and reveals some intriguing secrets on the history of the game’s development process.

Also specially featured with the Steam launch is a new Challenge Mode that was inspired by the dev team “watching speed-runners utterly demolish our puzzles”. Challenge Mode will pit your perspective skills against the many standard Superliminal puzzles, but with the added challenge of limiting how many times you can grab, how many times you can jump, or how much time you have to complete each puzzle.

Shift your reality over to Superliminal’s Steam page for the full details on the Steam launch, and perceive live future info on the game’s Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube channels.
