Finally, we have confirmation that the Nintendo Switch OLED will not only be able to stream and play games, but also tell the time. RedDeerGames has announced a brand-new app for the Switch called AAA Clock that will add what they promise is “the best flip clock ever made” to the console. It is set to release the same day as the Nintendo Switch OLED.

Yep, all thanks to that ten-dollar calculator from a while back, the eShop it at it again. RedDeerGames, an award-winning global gaming company, proudly unveiled the AAA Clock in an announcement trailer. Labelled the very first app for the new Switch OLED, the clock features a simple and foolproof design that allows the Switch to be used as an incredibly expensive desk accent.

The app is also fully customizable as you can change it to any color, or enable the color-sensing mode that will automatically match the clockface to the color of the joy-cons on your Switch. An HD clockface takes full advantage of the new Switch’s OLED technology while still incorporating classic clock mechanics into the app. It remains to be seen if it really does need all of that fancy OLED tech, but hey, who knows.

Not only will AAA Clock turn your console into one of the most expensive alarm clocks on the market, but it will also come with a neat little retro game. The side-scroller, which is created with RedDeerGames' easily distinguishable art style, is the perfect way to kill some time. Plus, the developer has already announced that it is hard at work on a sequel.

AAA Clock-2

Sticking to the theme of “time”, RedDeerGames is also working on a science fiction horror game called “Time Hole”. No more info on the title is known, but it sounds intriguing. The developer is also working on a humorous platformer called 7 Horizons, and two new games set within the universe of the beloved comic “Kayko and Kokosh”.

AAA Clock will be available on October 7 in Japan, Hong Kong, and Korea. It will release for North America, Europe, and Australia on October 8. It will launch at a limited-time price of $1.99 and later retail for $9.99. Act early to avoid disappointment.
