The upcoming Monster Hunter movie has added a few new names to its cast. It had already been announced that the movie would star Milla Jovovich, but the cast now includes the rapper T. I. Harris and Ron Perlman.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed these new additions to the cast, as well as offering names of the characters that they will all be playing – Milla Jovovich will be playing Artemis, T. I. will be playing a sniper named Link (no, not that one), and Ron Perlman will be playing the Admiral, who leads their group.

It should be mentioned that these are all original characters that have been created for the film, as the stars of the Monster Hunter franchise are the monsters themselves. There aren’t many notable human characters in the video games, which is why Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite had to use a generic character called the “Monster Hunter” to represent the series.

Paul W. S. Anderson is directing the film, which makes sense, considering that he had already worked with Capcom on the Resident Evil franchise which drew over a billion dollars at the box office. This may also explain why Milla Jovovich (Anderson’s wife) has been tapped for the starring role once more.

It seems that the Monster Hunter movie will be taking a page out of the Captain N book, as Paul W. S. Anderson had previously revealed that the story of the movie is –

“For every Monster, there is a Hero. An ordinary man in a dead end job discovers that he is actually the descendant of an ancient hero. He must travel to a mystical world to train to become a Monster Hunter before the mythical creatures from that world destroy ours.”

This story idea sounds pretty terrible, but it may be born out of necessity. The issue with making a movie based on the Monster Hunter series is that the games involving hunting giant monsters, which is going to be an expensive prospect to put up on the big screen, so scenes set in the real world may be a way of keeping costs down.
