Tales of Symphonia Remastered has several ways to get your hands on exceedingly powerful gear and abilities, with the Devil's Arms being the best you can get, at least under the right circumstances. There are nine Devil's Arms in the game, one for each party member, all of which must be obtained in specific ways.

While the Devil's Arms have the potential of being the best weapons in the game, they grow stronger based on how many kills their wielder has accumulated throughout their adventure. This means that, in theory, some weapons may be stronger when you acquire them but will eventually be surpassed by the Devil's Arm after you accrue more kills, either by farming or tackling New Game Plus.

Devil's Arms Overview

Obtaining the Devil's Arms is always an exciting activity in a Tales of game, but their odd damage scaling will always trip newcomers up, as the strongest weapons in the game may not be so strong when you first acquire them. For starters, you cannot gain access to the true form of the Devil's Arms until after you finish what is the tenth step in this Guide, which is one of the most challenging aspects of the entire game.

Furthermore, the Devil's Arms all grow in power based on how many kills you racked up throughout your playthrough, which can be carried over to your New Game Plus save by purchasing the "Battle Info" from the Grade Shop for 10 Grade. The more kills you get, the harder your weapon hits and the faster your enemy dies. Simple, right? However, there is one more twist here, being that there is a cap on how far these weapons will scale. You can find that information below!

  • Kills: 5,000
  • Devil's Arms Strength: 4,000

Reaching 5,000 Kills with a character will max their Devil's Arm Strength at 4,000. While it is sort of a bummer that there is a limit, the limit is still ridiculously high, making these arms the best in the game by a landslide. So, if the question is whether or not these are worth the hassle to track down, we say absolutely! Especially if you plan on jumping into New Game Plus after you roll credits.

Step 1: Colette's Devil's Arm

An image of Colette's Mystic Arte cut-in from Tales of Symphonia Remastered, where she poses by sticking her tongue out and winking.

The first Devil's Arm you will want to gun for is the Evil Eye, which is the one that Colette can equip. To find this weapon, head to the Toize Valley Mine. Make your way over to the boulder trap, then take the elevator next to it down. Once here, there will be a Naploosa Bacura in a pile of rubble. Examine this to obtain the Evil Eye Ring and to begin the Devil's Arms side-quests. You must do this step first in order to get the remaining eight Devil's Arms.

Step 2: Lloyd's Devil's Arm

An image of Lloyd's Mystic Arte cut-in from Tales of Symphonia Remastered, showcasing him screaming as he plunges his sword downward.

Next is to ensure you have eight people in your group, as some members will constantly rotate in and out of your party. Once things have stabilized, and you have eight characters locked and ready to go, head to Flanoir. Once here, make your way to the building to the right of the Inn. You will see a man sitting just outside the door. This is Abyssion. Speak with him to receive the Nebilim Devil's Arm. This weapon is Twin Blades, allowing Lloyd to equip them.

Abyssion will also give you the Nebilim's Key, enabling you to open chests around the world that contain the remaining seven Devil's Arms. Again, ensure you have eight people in your group, as you will need them to obtain every Devil's Arm. If you don't, you should tackle this a bit later when you do, as it will save you lots of confusion and frustration.

Step 3: Kratos' or Zelos' First Devil's Arm

An image of Zelos' Mystic Arte cut-in from Tales of Symphonia Remastered, having him rest his sword on his shoulder while looking dreamily at the camera.

Moving on, the next Devil's Arm can be equipped by either Kratos or Zelos, so make sure either of them is in your group. Once that is clear, head to Triet. When here, head to where the Items Shop is and talk to the man nearby, who will talk about a "Monstrous Creature" in the desert. Before leaving, navigate to the Oasis and speak to another man here, who will further elaborate on said creature.

After doing this, exit Triet and explore the desert via the overworld until a glowing ring randomly appears. When you see this, interact with it to begin a small encounter with a Sandworm. This fight isn't too difficult, especially if you use Water-based Tech. If you find yourself struggling here, we recommend trying a different party composition or coming back later. Regardless, after defeating the Sandworm, you will receive the Soul Eater Devil's Arm, a Sword that can either be equipped by Kratos or Zelos.

Step 4: Kratos' or Zelos' Second Devil's Arm

An image of Kratos' Mystic Arte cut-in from Tales of Symphonia Remastered, having him channel his energy into his sword.

Keeping on the topic of a Devil's Arm that can be used by either Kratos or Zelos, we have the Fafnir, our next target. You must have made it to the point in the story where your Sorcerer's Ring gets imbued with the power of light. Otherwise, you will not be able to advance. If you meet those requirements, head to the Gaoracchia Forest by entering from the Ozette side. From there, navigate to the north twice (two screen transitions). Next, you will want to head to the right and use the Sorcerer's Ring to melt the plants in your way, opening a new pathway.

Follow this pathway until you reach a Chest at the end of it. Thanks to the key you obtained from Abyssion earlier, you can open it to acquire the Fafnir Dagger, a Devil's Arm that either Kratos or Zelos can equip! - And, yes, since Kratos and Zelos cannot be in a party together due to events that take place in the story, one of them will have access to two Devil's Arms. While both are excellent, the Soul Eater is a bit better all around.

Step 5: Sheena's Devil's Arm

An image of Sheena's Mystic Arte cut-in from Tales of Symphonia Remastered, having her wield her Summon Card while shouting.

Now that Kratos and Zelos are done hogging the spotlight, it's time to get Sheena her Devil's Arm. In order to do this, you will have to progress past the point where Sheena forges a pact with Gnome for her Earth Spirit Summon in the Temple of Earth. After doing this, you will want to head to Altessa's House, located just east of Ozette. Once there, you will find a Gnomelette on the left end of the house.

Speak to the Gnomette and then head back to the Temple of Earth. When here, make your way over to the area previously blocked by Gnomelettes when you first visited the Temple to have them suddenly move out of your way, revealing a pathway to a Chest. With the Nebilim's Key, open it to receive the Gates of Hell, a Card Devil's Arm, making it a perfect fit for Sheena!

Step 6: Presea's Devil's Arm

An image of Presea's Mystic Arte cut-in from Tales of Symphonia Remastered, having her pose with her arms down while looking determined.

Presea's Devil's Arm is next and is very straightforward to obtain. Head to the Latheon Gorge, then move to the next area in the Gorge. From there, you will see a ramp that leads downward. Follow it until you reach another ramp that leads you further down, but this time to the left. Stay on this path until you reach a Chest. Pop it open with the key to acquire the Diablos, an Axe Devil's Arm that will allow Presea to dish out unrelenting amounts of damage.

Step 7: Regal's Devil's Arm

An image of Regal's Mystic Arte cut-in from Tales of Symphonia Remastered, having him raise his chained hands up while grimacing.

Speaking of easy-to-obtain Devil's Arms, Regal's is just as easy to get your hands on as Presea's is, so let's go over how to do just that. Before doing so, you must progress past the point in the story where Colette escapes the Prison, clearing the Transporter in the process. After doing that, head back to Welgaia and use that same Transporter to move into a new area. Once here, there will be two buildings. Enter the one that is facing you. Once inside, take the first door on the left, open the Chest, and acquire the Apocalypse. These are Leg Guards Devil's Arms, making them perfect for Regal!

Step 8: Genis' Devil's Arm

An image of Genis' Mystic Arte cut-in from Tales of Symphonia Remastered, having him raise his arms toward the sky and scream.

Genis is next in line, and his is a bit confusing. It's not hard by any stretch, but thanks to his Devil's Arms being accessed in different ways across the many different ports of this game, this one trips many people up. For starters, let's cover what is needed in all versions of the game. First, you must have the Fafnir (Kratos' or Zelos' Devil's Arms). Then, you must travel to the Hotel in Altamira and spend the night. When prompted if you want to explore at night, choose yes, and then head to the Casino.

This is where things get tricky. In this version (Tales of Symphonia Remastered) and the PS2, PS3, and PC versions, you will purchase the Devil's Plaything in the Casino for 250 Chips. After purchasing this item, it will be revealed to be the Disaster Devil's Arm. In all other versions, however, you will obtain this by heading outside the Casino and talking to a man on the nearby bridge. He will sell you a Kendama for 1,000 Gald, which will also be the Disaster Devil's Arm.

Step 9: Raine's Devil's Arm

An image of Raine's Mystic Arte cut-in from Tales of Symphonia Remastered, having her wield her Staff and channel all her energy into the following attack.

Our final Devil's Arm belongs to Raine and can only be accessed after you obtain the eight others above. Once you have all eight Devil's Arms, head back to Flanoir and speak to Abyssion, who is still located on the house's front stoop to the right of the Inn. Upon doing so, Abyssion will make some remarks about heading to the Temple of Darkness. However, do not go there after this conversation. Instead, travel to Hakonesia Peak and speak with Koton.

To receive the Heart of Chaos, Raine's Devil's Arm, you will have to trade an Artifact of hers with Koton for it, which will then trigger a cutscene. This will break the Seal in the Temple of Darkness, allowing you to explore it fully. Before moving any further, we strongly urge you to strengthen up your party and equip them with the best possible Armor, Weapons, Tech, and Items possible, as what awaits you is quite a challenge.

Step 10: Abyssion

Abyssion casting his Holy Binds Mystic Arte in Tales of Symphonia Remastered, staring upward and screaming while he channels all his energy.

Whenever you feel ready enough to dive into the depth of the Temple of Darkness, be sure to create a separate Save File near the beginning of the Temple, just in case you get yourself into a situation where you only have one Save File and have to backtrack all the way through the Temple, which may or may not be possible depending on how well prepared you were.

Arriving at the bottom of the Temple of Darkness will reveal Abyssion's true intentions, and you will have to fight him. This is the hardest encounter in Tales of Symphonia Remastered by a longshot, and will likely take you many attempts to beat. He has access to many Techs and his own Mystic Artes and also has no weaknesses. You must defeat him by dodging his attacks and landing hits whenever a window presents itself.

This encounter is very long and is an endurance test with a heavy DPS check. We recommend using Raine as your Healer while everyone else is pure DPS. That means Kratos/Zelos, Lloyd, Presea, and Raine would be an excellent team composition to throw at him. However, whatever works best for you is ultimately your best shot. Nonetheless, when you finally best Abyssos, your Devil's Arms will be active, and everything we covered at the very beginning of this Guide will apply!
