Being able to replay a classic like Tales Of Symphonia in a remastered form is great, but after being separated from the game for all those years, you may have missed a few things. No one should be shocked that there’s a lot to miss considering the story and the game’s world are absolutely massive.

You could completely miss something right in front of you if you aren’t careful, thanks to the sheer amount of information and lore constantly thrown your way. There’s no shame in this, though, because that just means another fantastic playthrough is in order. You might even find yourself going back to other games that remind you of Tales Of Symphonia Remastered to see what you missed in those games.

10 The Game Is Multiplayer

It may seem strange to mention that the game is multiplayer, but for whatever reason, this game seriously slides under the radar as a multiplayer game. You have the ability to take control of whichever character you choose, but you can also have some friends pick up the slack.

You can’t exactly roam around the world together, but being able to work together in combat can be a lot of fun. Somehow, for more than a decade, people have been completely missing the fact that they can play this fantastic RPG with friends and family instead of alone.

9 Kratos Knows Lloyd Is His Son The Whole Time

Lloyd and Kratos discuss important matters in Tales of Symphonia

Right at the beginning of the game, when Colette and company visit Lloyd’s house, you can spot Kratos standing in front of Lloyd’s mother’s grave. Considering Kratos is a stoic mercenary, his paying respects to the dead isn’t out of the ordinary.

The thing is, it’s this exact moment in which Kratos realizes that the young lad is, in fact, his son, the grave in front of him is his wife’s, and his entire journey is about to get a lot more complicated. It all gets explained later, but it’s so easy to miss or even forget about this seemingly tiny moment.

8 Kratos Tries Raine’s Cooking

Since there are so many skits, and not every player is interested in being pulled from the gameplay to experience them all, you may have missed the hilarity that came during the “Chef Raine” skit. It features Raine and Kratos and is one of the funniest moments between the pair.

Essentially, Kratos is brave enough to try some of Raine’s not-so-wonderful-looking cooking (this happens specifically after you’ve failed to cook with her). It’s so bad that Kratos tries implementing a little magic to recover from the horrible ordeal.

7 The Strange Cat Room

The strange cat room that can be found in the Altamira Hotel has a man and a room full of cats

If you don’t fancy yourself to be the kind of person who explores every nook and cranny across the map, you will have totally missed this interesting room. If you make your way to the fourth floor of the Altamira hotel, you can come across a man in a room with dozens of cats.

Why the man is spending his time in a hotel room with upwards of twenty cats is a great question, but one you’ll never find out the answer to. It’s such a strange little room that you will be better off missing it.

6 There’s A Hidden Affection System

Lloyd and Colette share a moment in the snowy night within Flanoir

For people who play through the game a single time and find that the journey was fulfilling enough not to replay it, you may not have realized there was a hidden affection system the entire time. Lloyd can grow close with his party, but one can become closer than the others.

This affection value isn’t relegated to only the female party members either, meaning a unique scene and some unique interactions can be had for each individual playthrough. You may have liked Colette more than the other characters, but another player could have preferred Sheena, resulting in different scenes in various areas.

5 Completionists Have To Beat The Game Three Times Minimum

Depending on the kind of completionist you are, the fact that you’ll have to play the game at least three times is either fantastic or dreadful. Those who are interested in getting every last item in a game might end up a little miffed that three items are locked behind cutscenes that are near the end game.

To make matters worse, those cutscenes play out based on a hidden affection value, and only three characters out of the entire cast can give any of the three items. It may sound tricky, but odds are, a completionist already uses some kind of guide to help them on their quest.

4 Zelos Can Betray You For Real

An image of Zelos' Mystic Arte cut-in from Tales of Symphonia Remastered, having him rest his sword on his shoulder while looking dreamily at the camera.

There are a lot of horrible betrayals and surprising fakeout betrayals throughout most RPG series, and Tales Of Symphonia remastered is no different. Most people will likely experience the game in which Zelos implements a bit of a trick but ultimately rejoins the party for the final section of the game.

Depending on your choices and actions throughout the game, it’s actually possible that Zelos will betray you for real at that point. The major change in that instance is that you will be forced to kill one of the characters you have come to love over multiple playthroughs.

3 Clueless Colette

An image showing Colette (Blonde Hair), Genis (White Hair), and Lloyd (Brown Hair) from Tales of Symphonia Remastered leaning over the camera and smiling.

There are tons of unique interactions that can occur after a fight, and it's likely that most people never experience all of them in a single playthrough due to specific circumstances needing to be met. In this instance, Lloyd needs to end the fight poisoned with Colette in the party.

After asking for an antidote, Colette gleefully informs Lloyd that she’s not poisoned. It’s a hilarious and brief interaction that shows how much care went into scripting the game. Although, it also could be the case that Colette is just far more sinister than anyone ever thought.

2 Zelos Can Gain a New Title

An image of Zelos from Tales of Symphonia Remastered, looking ahead with a grin on his face.

He earns the Gigilo title through a shockingly in-depth set of actions. You can swap to controlling Zelos as your overworld character and talk to every woman you see.

That’s right. If you walk through the entire world as Zelos and speak to every female character, you will eventually, and mildly hilariously, be bestowed with the title “Gigolo” for your effort. It’s a strange inclusion, but it’s a title that perfectly fights the pompous ladies' man.

1 You Can Talk To Every Dog

Colette earns the title of Dog Lover

For all those animal lovers out there, you can actually have unique little interactions with each and every dog in the game. To do this, you’ll have to take control of Colette while you explore the overworld and villages to find every dog.

She’ll go around naming all the little dogs she comes across, but the journey isn’t just a simple running gag. If you take the time to talk to every dog with Colette, you’ll earn yourself a unique title for her, one that labels her as a “Dog Lover.”
