Originally released for PC in February 2019, Tannenberg - from developers M2H and Blackmill Games - provides an authentic first-person shooter experience from the countryside battlefields of World War I. This month, console players will finally get to experience the game that is currently rated as “Very Positive” from Steam user ratings.

Console players will get to storm the Eastern Front on July 24th, when Tannenberg releases on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In celebration of the news, a console release announcement trailer was posted, showing off the game’s chaotic wartime action.

The footage from the console version looks as good as (if not better than) the PC version of the game, which features massive land battles amongst a backdrop of beautifully war-torn scenery. The overall vibe of Tannenberg feels strikingly similar to that of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, especially given the fact that gameplay strategy revolves around 40 players fighting for control of strategic points (which actually differs from the PC version that allows up to 64 players at any given time).

Players will have access to weapons such as rifles and bayonets, along with artillery, gas barrages, and heavy machine guns - all of which maintain the authenticity of weapons available during World War I.

Gameplay will consist of tactical squad-based first-person shooting, allowing players to take on the roles of Russian, Roumanian, Latvian, Austro-Hungarian, German, or Bulgarian troops as they travel across various maps featuring authentic World War I locations, including the new map of Przemysl, which is featured in the announcement video.

Tannenberg should be a solid departure from the gameplay of its predecessor, Verdun, as the Eastern Front was far more open than the close-quarter nature of the Western Front. And don’t worry, PC players. The Przemysl map will also be available to you as DLC on the same day that Tannenberg released on consoles.

Tannenberg is now available for pre-order (with 10%-off) for Xbox One. No word yet on whether a similar pre-order deal will be offered for the PlayStation 4 version.
