Tchia finally has a launch date, March 21. It coming out so soon is a nice surprise, but an even better one is the news that it'll be available at no extra cost to those of you who subscribe to PlayStation Plus Premium or Extra.

Tchia is a game inspired by New Caledonia, a French territory that consists of a group of islands in the southwest Pacific Ocean. In it, you'll control the titular Tchia, but you'll also be able to take control of any of the islands' animals, and even objects like pots, rocks, and lamps. If you can see it, you can be it.

This new trailer gave us some more story insights. It states that the god Meavora has been awoken from his slumber and risen to power out of his prison. TheGamer got to play a preview of the Tchia at Gamescom 2022, and saw the monsters he controls, cloth spirits that are running amock.

We also see Tchia using her slingshot and floating through the air as an eerie green glow emanates from what could be either a statue or a shrine of some sort.

TheGamer also found it had a lot in common with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and not just because of the glider. The expansive open world and ability to interact with the physics of the surroundings in fun and unique ways was a big part of the appeal.

Developer Awaceb’s two co-founders hail from the archipelago, and this game is their love letter to their homeland. All the animals, costumes, and meals found in the game are inspired by the culture of the islands.

Being set in an archipelago means that as well as all the islands, there's a lot of water to traverse. Fortunately, Tchia has access to a boat, but the latest trailer also showed her possessing a dolphin and leaping gracefully out of the water and swimming among the coral at speed.
