Team Ninja has confirmed that there is currently nothing in the works for either Ninja Gaiden or Dead or Alive, despite studio president Fumihiko Yasuda mentioning reboots of both series during a G-Star conference in Busa.

Last week, it was reported that Team Ninja had plans to reboot both Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive after the studio's president, Fumihiko Yasuda, appeared at a panel at the G-Star conference in Busan and presented a slide that mentioned "Reboot of popular series" while showing images of the two games.

That presentation made it seem like a done deal, but it seems that's not the case, as a new statement released by Team Ninja's creative director, Tom Lee, says that there's nothing to share on either Ninja Gaiden or Dead or Alive at the moment.

The statement, as provided by Gematsu, begins, "Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden are both long-standing pillar franchises for Team Ninja. These celebrated titles are synonymous with our studio history and reputation. It goes without saying that when speaking about the development of our past and future projects, both of these important titles cannot be left without mention."

It continues, debunking what Yasuda had said during the G-star conference, "However, there are no details or information to share on either of these franchises at this present time. Like many of our dedicated fans, we share the enthusiasm for the return of these beloved titles. And we will be sure to provide a proper update (if and) when that day comes."

Now that Team Ninja has come out and confirmed that it's not working on either Ninja Gaiden or Dead or Alive, it makes Yasuda's presentation at G-Star a little confusing, as the released slides do mention "reboots" while showing images of the two series.

Tom Lee mentions in the statement that "both of these important titles cannot be left without mention" when talking about the studio's future projects, so it seems to have just been some confusion with how the presentation was organised.
