Surprising no one, Teamfight Tactics continues its steady climb in popularity with a monthly base of over 33 million players. The new mode has only been officially announced in June as part League of Legends, and developer Riot Games has since committed to supporting the new mode in the future.

These player numbers are nothing to scoff at. Teamfight Tactics has had a direct hand in helping to grow the audience for League of Legends by about 30 percent, according to Riot Games. They have already stated that the new mode will receive continue support through balance updates to gameplay, the addition of new content, and cosmetic items.

The next step for the game is to see its esports scene develop. This is something that we have seen so far only on a small scale, with Twitch streamers playing in smaller tournaments. The competitive mode within the game shows a dedicated base of players who are ready to show the world who the best players are, and Riot states that ranked matches currently outnumber normal matches in the game by a staggering four-to-one ratio.

The game is about to get some more exposure this upcoming weekend at TwitchCon 2019. Over the course of the next three days, players will be battling for a combined prize pool of $2 million in Fortnite, League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and Apex Legends in the highly anticipated conclusion to Twitch Rivals.

Following this, the game has already been announced to be included in the League of Legends All-Star Event taking place in Las Vegas this December. It will be first time that multiple titles by Riot Games are featured for competition. Competitors will range from top ranking players to fan favorites, who will receive an invitation based on the number of votes they receive from the gaming community.

Since Teamfight Tactics is a relatively new entrant into the gaming scene, there are several new players coming to try the auto-battler. One of the most active streamers right now is Rumay “Hafu” Wang, who for years has been known for her World of Warcraft and Hearthstone content. Like many players of Hearthstone Hafu has made a switch over to Teamfight Tactics, and watching her streams is a great way to see some of the best competitive action and keep up to date on the best tactics.
