Bandai Namco this week announced Tekken 7 has crossed the seven million sales threshold. The studio then thanked fans for all their support over the years and to get ready for "the next battle."
The popular fighting game crossed the three million sales mark back in 2018 – pushing the entire franchise to over 47 million in total sales. Its success continued throughout the years, most recently hitting six million sales last September before skyrocketing to seven million this week.
Like any fighting game worth its salt, Tekken 7 has seen constant updates since launching in 2015. This March saw the arrival of Lidia Sobieska, the fictional prime minister of Poland who also happens to be a master of karate. She was included as part of the Season 4 Pass, along with the Island Paradise level.
Prior to Lidia, Tekken 7 added Kunimitsu in November, a character that was also part of the lengthy Season 4.
Fans aren't content to sit on their laurels and wait for official updates, however, with modders bringing various characters and stages to Tekken. In fact, earlier this year Tifa Lockhart found her way to the game through the use of a Josie replacement mod. It's not perfect, but it's a fun way to add another character to Tekken's growing roster.
There's been no word of a Season 5 Pass – although who knows what the future holds for the popular fighter.
