Telltale Games is reforming and they're coming back strong, with an adaptation of popular sci-fi book and TV series, The Expanse. Reprising her role as Camina Drummer, Cara Gee will be voicing the character in the new game.

A reveal trailer shown during The Game Awards shows off the series' iconic magnetic boots as Drummer walks through a belter rockhopper floating near Jupiter. She approaches an airlock and sends someone out of the ship to a cold, gasping death.

This game marks the first project from Telltale since the studio closed in September 2018. It was relaunched in 2019, but has remained quiet since.

Telltale's episodic structure for its games is a good fit for a more focussed story within the universe of The Expanse. While an epic sci-fi on the scale of Mass Effect would be perfect for the series, taking the time to really get a close look at one of the series' fan favourite characters is a surefire way to get people to play the new game.

The show and books are set to come to a close this year, so it's great to see the series live on in video game form. The Telltale adaptation is a prequel set before the events of the show. "The game is going to put you in Drummer’s mag boots, and force you to make all of the ridiculously difficult decisions that, as you know, Drummer grapples with," Cara Gee said in the announcement.

"With this Telltale series I think we’re having a chance to explore some of the unknown parts of Drummer’s story," Gee continued. "And I’m beyond thrilled to get back into the eye makeup and the dialect, and dive in and just keep exploring this phenomenal, powerful character."

We were fortunate enough to talk to Shohreh Aghdashloo recently, who plays The Expanse’s Chrisjen Avasarala, the protector of Earth who will do anything to keep the planet safe from interstellar threats. “Not only does she care about the people currently living on Earth, she also cares about its resources,” Aghdashloo told us.
