The acclaimed Walking Dead series from Telltale is coming to a close beginning on August 14th. Today, Telltale released a trailer, and announced details on the company's website, including that pre-orders begin this Friday, June 8th.

Telltale's description for The Final Season reads:

"Clementine, now a fierce and capable survivor, has reached the final chapter in her journey. After years on the road facing threats both living and dead, a secluded school might finally be her chance for a home. But protecting it will mean sacrifice. Clem must build a life and become a leader while still watching over AJ, an orphaned boy and the closest thing to family she has left. In this gripping, emotional final season, you will define your relationships, fight the undead, and determine how Clementine's story ends."

According to Telltale, the game will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A Nintendo Switch port will follow later in the year. Telltale is offering a massive incentive to pre-order if you plan on playing the PS4 or Xbox One versions. If you pre-order for either of those two consoles, you will get "immediate access to The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection, which gathers all 19 existing episodes into a single package." What this means is that if you pre-order the game for either PS4 or Xbox One, which is $19.99, you get access to all of the previous Walking Dead episodes. Not only does the Series Collection feature Seasons 1-3, it also features 400 Days and Michonne. It's a fantastic deal, because you're getting everything that comes before The Final Season for free.

Meanwhile, those who pre-order for PC through "Steam, GOG, GamersGate, or the Humble Store" will get 10% off retail price. Telltale also says that "Win10 pre-orders through the Microsoft Store will unlock season one of The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series." The company does warn however, that all of these pre-order bonus will end when the game comes out. So, especially if you're a PS4 or Xbox One player and never played Telltale's Walking Dead games, pre-ordering The Final Season could be a good idea.

The trailer showcases a conversation between Clementine and AJ. With dialogue like, "Always save the last bullet for yourself," and "Now, what do you do if I get bit?", The Final Season looks to be another haunting, incredibly written entry in the series. The story began six years ago, with a man named Lee Everett finding a little girl named Clementine. From there, the story can go different ways, but the core aspect remains: it is about Clementine's journey to hardened survivor. How will her story end? Will it end on a happy, looking into the sunset note, or where AJ or Clementine is forced to make an impossible decision? Knowing Telltale, the final episode will be unforgettable.

The company says that The Final Season will have a "new over-the-shoulder camera system" and "scenes with unscripted combat." Telltale will be at E3, so expect more news next week.
