The enemies in the base-building video game Terraria appear in various forms; however, bosses tend to be the most challenging enemies to defeat because of their high health and powerful attacks. Additionally, a lot of bosses spawn minions that you have to fight while in the middle of a boss battle.

One of the most unique sets of bosses in Terraria are the Celestial Pillars. The Celestial Pillars are a group of four bosses with their own movesets, so you'll have a different experience fighting all of them. Below you will find out how to defeat each Celestial Pillar and what rewards you earn for defeating them.

How To Defeat Every Celestial Pillar

Each Celestial Pillar represents a specific damage type, and they spawn during Lunar Events after you defeat the Lunatic Cultist. You have to defeat 100 minions before you can damage each of the pillars, and more enemies will spawn throughout the rest of the boss fight as well. Make sure to bring powerful weapons to these fights. Every Celestial Pillar drops Lunar Fragments when you defeat them. The type of fragment you receive depends on the type of Pillar you defeat.

Vortex Pillar

The Vortex Pillar represents ranged damage, and the boss fight features Swift minions with powerful long-range attacks. During the boss fight, the Vortex Pillar will spawn portals above you that summon lightning bolts or two Alien Hornets, so watch for the portals to be ready for either of these scenarios.

The key thing to remember while fighting the Vortex Pillar is to be aware of your surroundings because there are many enemies shooting projectiles at you while you're also focusing on dealing damage to the Vortex Pillar. Once you defeat the Vortex Pillar, you receive Vortex Fragments.

Solar Pillar

Terraria - Fighting the Solar Pillar boss in the dark

The Solar Pillar represents melee damage, and the enemies it spawns have a lot of defense. You have to avoid the Solar Pillar's fireball attacks while fighting it, which deals a lot of damage and continuously targets you during the battle.

If the Crawltipede enemy is present during the boss fight, then you need to damage its tail to defeat it. The Crawltipede will leave you alone if you're on the ground, so you need to defeat it before using the airspace during the boss battle with the Solar Pillar.

Keep damaging the Solar Pillar until you defeat it, dodging its fireball attack whenever it's thrown in your direction and defeating the minions as they spawn. The Solar Pillar drops Solar Fragments when it dies.

Stardust Pillar

The Stardust Pillar is the most interesting boss among all of the Celestial Pillars because its theme is summoning. You have to deal with minions that summon smaller enemies during the Stardust Pillar fight, which is very challenging since it's easy for the enemies to overwhelm you due to their large army.

You should defeat the base enemies to stop them from spawning other enemies; however, the Star Cell minion will split into smaller versions of itself upon death, which will then grow to full-size if you don't defeat them quickly. The Stardust Pillar can also spawn more enemies as its unique ability, so you'll have to face a swarm of enemies throughout the fight. Twinkle Poppers shoot lasers at you, so watch out for them since each laser deals a lot of damage.

Damage the Stardust Pillar until you defeat it, and remember to focus on enemies that can summon other enemies before directing your damage towards the boss. The Stardust Pillar drops Stardust Fragments when it dies.

Nebula Pillar

The Nebula Pillar features an easy boss fight because it only spawns minions, but the Pillar itself doesn't have a unique attack. The enemies you have to fight during the Nebula Pillar boss fight are magic-themed, so they can fly and teleport around the battlefield.

You have to dodge laser attacks and other projectiles from most of the enemies; however, the real threat is the Brain Sucklers which attach to you and deal damage while also giving you the Obstructed debuff, which darkens your vision.

Fight and defeat the enemies to gain a chance to damage the Nebula Pillar. Once you defeat the Nebula Pillar, your reward is Nebula Fragments.
