According to Monster Hunter: World, dual blades are “a weapon that blitzes a target with a flurry of attacks.” They are a melee weapon, operate on cut damage, and a staple choice of weapon among hunters in the Monster Hunter: World universe.
These blades are unmatched when it comes to damage and combos. They are fast, agile, and unstoppable. Out of the 14 weapons in Monster Hunter: World, these weapons aren’t objectively the strongest, but they are the fastest and most effective once mastered. Here are the top ten dual blades every hunter should have in their arsenal in Monster Hunter: World.
10 Kjarr Dagger “Rage”
The Kjarr Dagger “Lurk” dual blade has a 280 Attack Power, Blue Sharpness, 210 Fire Damage, and 5% Affinity. It even comes with a Critical Status skill and has strong synergy with the Drachen Set. The reason it comes in at number ten is because it can only be obtained through “The Fury of El Dorado” Kulve Taroth Siege Event quest, and it can’t be upgraded into another weapon. It also can’t be upgraded to White Sharpness, even if level 5 handicraft is obtained. Despite its downsides, the high attack power and elemental damage compensates for the lack of White Sharpness upgrade.
9 Taroth Dagger “Rage”
This dagger, coming in at number nine, has great stats: 294 Attack Power, Purple Sharpness, negative 20% Affinity, and 240 Fire Elemental Damage. It’s easier to get than the Kjarr Dagger; it’s obtained through the Banquet in the Earthen Hall quest. This weapon cannot be upgraded, unfortunately, and is only powerful against a certain number of monsters. This weapon is also obtained on the luck of a hunter. However, the raw power, purple sharpness, and Fire Damage make this to be a weapon every hunter should use. Not even the low Affinity should deter a hunter from claiming this weapon.
8 Empress Daggers “Styx”
The Empress Daggers “Styx” has 252 Attack Power, White Sharpness, Razor Sharp/Spare Shot Skills, 10% Affinity, two level three slots, and 120 Blast Damage. This blade only works with the Lunastra monster and lacks the Master’s Touch. Other than that, this build is rather good. These blades particularly resonate with Xeno’jiva parts to keep the daggers sharp and well-maintained.
The White Sharpness and Blast Damage aspect to these weapons allow intense damage to occur, especially with a 10% Affinity considered in the mix. This weapon is similar to Bazelhawk Rookslayer and Diablos Clubs II in the fact that the ability for optimum damage and blast can be critical.
7 Zireael
For starters, this weapon is hard to get if there is no battle between the hunter and the Ancient Leshen monster, but this weapon is extremely worth getting. This weapon has a 240 Attack Power, White Sharpness, 0% Affinity, 240 Dragon Elemental Damage, and a high Elderseal. A dragon element can also be added if the Free Elem/Ammo Up skill is slotted. This weapon is a weapon from the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt collaboration and is styled with the full Ciri Armor Set.
In other words, this weapon was built for optimum dragon-slaying, so what's not to love?
6 Wrathful Predation
According to Monster Hunter: World, the Wrathful Predation is a weapon that “embodies the Deviljho, nature’s perfect predator. The heated blades seem almost alive…” This blade has 300 Attack Power, Blue Sharpness, 180 Dragon Damage, and a high Elderseal. It seems as if this weapon was handcrafted for dragon killing. The only reason it’s not listed in the top three is due to the fact that it has negative 20% Affinity. Other than that, the Wrathful Predation is a solid, reliable piece of weaponry. Add to the fact that these blades are just ones that look too good to resist.
5 Bazelhawk Rookslayer
This dual blade comes with a 280 Attack Power, Blue Sharpness, negative 10% Affinity, and 150 Blast Damage. This blade is easy to craft and good for the end of the game. The only downside to this blade is that it may be useless when finishing the main story. But all in all, these blades are very good. They’re on par damage-wise with the Diablos Clubs II due to the Blue Sharpness, and then an extra added element of the Blast Damage.
It’s also important to mention that these weapons are axes. Axes in general are handy, lovable weapons - just look at Gimli from Lord of the Rings. There’s never a time an axe isn’t in his hand.
4 Diablos Clubs II
This dual blade, ranking in at number four, has a whopping 322 Attack Power, Blue Sharpness, and Ice 90 Elemental Damage. Although it has negative 10% Affinity, these dual blades can pack a pretty powerful punch.
Unfortunately, these dual blades aren’t well-received among some hunters in Monster Hunter: World. They’re seen as “drumsticks,” they’re the “ugliest dual blades,” and it’s “elemental or bust” since elemental is the preferred method. However, the raw power emitted from Diablos Clubs II is absolutely unmatched.
It’s like they always say - don’t judge a book by its cover.
3 Fire And Ice
This blade is as powerful as the infamous Fire and Ice duo in Game of Thrones: Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow. This weapon has a 252 Attack Power, Blue Sharpness, 10% Affinity, and Ice 240 and Blast 240 damages. This blade is number three for a powerful reason - it has 240 Ice on one blade and 240 Blast on the other. This means that you can ice a dragon and then immediately blast it away.
Compared to Freeze Chain, it is 6% weaker without Blast damage. But because it has Blast damage, as well as an Ice blade companion, there is no second-guessing as to which dual blade should be picked.
2 Arcanaria III
These blades allow the agility to dance circles around any mark. It has a 20% Affinity, 120 Sleep Elemental Attack, 238 Attack Power, and Blue Sharpness. Three augmentation slots come with these blades, so critting will definitely be abundant. These blades are good for one specific reason - sleep bombing can happen with Arcanaria III. These blades attack rather quickly so a hunter can use a Sleep Element, break through resistances, and then use Mega Bombs to blast away the monster. This is overall a fun weapon, so why not use it?
1 Decimation Claws
Arguably speaking, these are the best dual blades in Monster Hunter: World. Derived from the Nergigante Tree, it has a 294 Attack Power, 120 Dragon Elemental Damage, 0% Affinity, a high Elderseal and Blue Sharpness. These stats alone tell Monster World hunters it’s highly effective against Elder dragons, and causes a good amount of damage in initial strikes. It’s the must-have in a hunter’s arsenal, no doubt about it. The best part about these dual blades? They are wearable claws. What better to attack a dragon than with its own use of weapons?
