How Long Does It Take To Beat The Callisto Protocol?

The Callisto Protocol is incredibly story-focused and comprises eight Main Chapters. These have a linear structure that you'll need to follow through in order to uncover the narrative and complete the game. Overall, you can expect this to take around 11 hours. However, this could easily increase, depending on how difficult you find it. To help with this, the game has three difficulty settings, Minimum Security, Medium Security, and Maximum Security. You can adjust this at any point in the gameplay settings.

The first two chapters are the shortest, followed by chapters five through eight. Chapters three and four are the longest. There are checkpoints in the game, but there is no chapter select option, so you may want to save often as you play. This will be especially important if you want to fully complete the game.

There are no side quests in The Callisto Protocol, but it does offer a range of trophies/achievements, as well as some collectibles to gather. If you can manage to snag these as you progress then you can fully complete the game in around 14 hours. However, this is much easier said than done and the true time it will take is likely to be much greater.

The collectibles take the form of 43 Data-Bios, split between audio logs and implants you'll need to harvest from corpses. Since this is a linear game you can easily miss them, so frequent saves are recommended. You should also note that if you die you'll need to recollect anything you picked up since the checkpoint you respawn at.

Alongside these collectibles, you'll also need to craft and upgrade several weapons, locate two secret rooms, and complete a number of combat-based objectives. If you beat the game on a low difficulty level and want to truly go all out you'll also need to play again, since The Protocol Is About Life achievement requires you to defeat the final boss on Maximum Security difficulty.
