The June 23rd release date for Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is coming up quickly, and fans of the lovable yellow sponge should be excited for what the remaster will have to offer. Not only will the game feature "high-end visuals" and "modern resolutions," Rehydrated will also allegedly include some content that was intended to be in the original release in 2003, but ended up being cut from the final product (DLC wasn’t exactly a “thing” back then).

While a new trailer this week featured some of the major boss battles that players will be taking on, it turns out that a Robo Squirdward boss fight is also being restored in this version. It makes sense that a mechanized Squidward will be making an appearance, considering the fact that - from the trailer footage - Spongebob will be reintroduced to a Robo Sandy Cheeks, Patrick Star, and karate-gear clad version of Spongebob himself.

Rehydrated will also feature an all-new Horde mode for up to two players that will be available both locally and online, which should add immense value to the game’s overall replayability.

Besides the newly-added content and multiplayer mode, the updated visuals alone should warrant interest from fans of the animated series. It probably depends on the person as to whether or not the original 2003 version holds up now, but Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated seems like it is going to be - at the very least - a fantastic trip down memory lane. Especially for those of us who grew up with Spongebob since his first episode premiered on Nickelodeon in 1999.
