It has been announced that The Cuphead Show will be getting a second season over on Netflix and that the air date is a lot sooner than you might expect.Announced via the Netflix Geeked Twitter account, it was revealed that the second season of Netflix’s Cuphead TV show will air at some point this summer. There were no further details about a potential plot or a more specific air date, but we can likely expect a trailer or two pretty soon. Related: Netflix And DreamWorks Underestimate The Power Of She-RaThe critical reception to The Cuphead Show when it aired earlier this month wasn't too great, releasing to a Rotten score on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes. Thankfully, the score has improved enough since release to keep it out of the “Rotten” category, and the audience reception has been largely positive.

Whatever problems the first season may have had, the animators and writers behind the show now have a chance to improve on what they already have. It’s possible that Netflix had initially signed off on a couple of seasons already, especially since the second season is going to air this soon after the first, but there’s no reason why season 2 of The Cuphead Show can’t dramatically improve upon the first.

As for fans of the games, Cuphead’s long-delayed DLC expansion, The Delicious Last Course, is still on track to release later this year. The Delicious Last Course is set to release on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on June 30. This could also give us a better idea of when the second season of The Cuphead Show could drop, as Netflix could use the launch of Cuphead’s DLC as a nice bit of free marketing.

For those that don’t know what this DLC will entail, players will mostly be given a bunch of new levels and bosses to try and defeat. The DLC will also introduce a character called Ms. Chalice who will be playable in every level of Cuphead, including those in the main game.

If you want to catch up on Cuphead before the DLC releases - or watched the show and want to try the game out for yourself - Cuphead is currently available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, and is playable on next-gen systems via backward compatibility.
