The Division 2 is bringing back the fan-favorite Diamondback Exotic Rifle from last year, and we’ve got a quick guide to help you obtain this slithery shooter.

When it comes to rare loot, The Division has always been one of the kings (or queens) of the grind. Exotics are the cream-of-the-crop when it comes to in-game rewards and can drop for you in a few different ways. You can loot them from certain named enemies or missions, obtain them through keys and faction boxes that reset every 24-hours, or have parts drop one at a time. The Diamondback Exotic Rifle can be obtained by the former.

This is a weapon that can be a little trickier to obtain. Not because it’s overly difficult, but because you need to run a certain string of missions to unlock the final chest. You will also need to hurry, because some of those specific missions will swap out if you’re not quick enough. Before we get into the step-by-step, let’s look at its stats:

  • Agonizing Bite: Diamondback randomly marks an enemy. Hitting that enemy consumes the mark, guaranteeing a critical hit with +20% total damage. A new random enemy is marked afterwards, and whenever you reload.
  • Deep Fangs: After hitting 5 marked enemies, gain +50% reload speed, +20% total damage and all shots fired are guaranteed critical hits for 10s.
  • Shedding Skin: While drawn, each time a round is loaded, gain +20% bonus armor for 3s. While holstered, each time you reload or cycle your current weapon, gain +8% bonus armor for 2s.

To add this weapon to your arsenal, you’ll need to complete 3 specific expeditions — Kenly Metro Station, Kenly Library, and Kenly Student Union. Like we mentioned above, make sure you’re quick because those investigations are on timers and could rotate out, leaving you in the dust before getting to that final mission. After you’ve completed the three investigations you’ll see Kenly Chapel open up on the left hand side of the map, near the campus. Fast travel there, open the chest, and enjoy one of the coolest looking exotics The Division 2 has to offer.

The Division 2 has stated with it’s new Warlords of New York expansion that they’ll be increasing the level cap to 40 and (allegedly) doing-away with gear scores. There are ways that you can upgrade your exotic to the new level cap once you’ve reached it, so we don’t advise waiting for the DLC update on March 3. Considering these investigation missions rotate out, you don’t want to be late to the party and miss out on this exotic for a second time.
