Outfits offer one of the best ways to customize your character since they give you an entirely new look. Also, if you unlock an outfit on one character, then it's unlocked on every character on your account moving forward. Below you'll find some of the best outfits you can earn by playing ESO and an explanation on how to unlock them.

Updated July 17, 2022 by Michael Caruso: There are dozens of outfits in The Elder Scrolls Online, along with even more motifs, hats, and other visual collectibles you can use to show your style. Customizing your character is one of the most fun activities in any MMO. However, there are a limited selection of outfits you can earn through in-game tasks, but we're back to tell you about a few more that you may be interested in unlocking. Some of these outfits are colorful by default, while others are more basic, but all of them will help you stand out from other players in ESO due to their unique visual appearances.

15 Old Orsinium Sentry

ESO Character Wearing The Old Orsinium Sentry

The Old Orsinium Sentry is a great outfit if you're a fan of animal skins and metal armor. The armor itself is silver in color, while clearly being made from a powerful metal. The best part of this outfit is that it includes a bear-skin helmet, which will make your enemies flee in terror at the sight of it.

The Orcs of Tamriel are talented and their armor is very impressive. As you can see in this outfit, there's nothing better than the craftsmanship of an Orc. This is especially true when they're creating armor for their powerful army. If you want a fine outfit fit for an Orc, then you can unlock the Old Orsinium Sentry outfit by completing the "A Cold Wind From The Mountain" quest in Wrothgar, which requires you to collect relics for the House Of Orsimer Glories.

14 Siegemaster's Uniform

ESO Character Wearing The Siegemaster's Outfit

The Siegemaster's Uniform is a good choice for any soldier that's commonly on the frontlines of the Alliance War in Cyrodiil. There are a few cosmetics you can earn in Cyrodiil, but the Siegemaster's Uniform is one of the most well-known since it has shining plating and a comfortable-looking under shirt.

You can unlock the Siegemaster's Uniform by collecting 50 Siege Of Cyrodiil Merits by completing daily quests in the Imperial City. However, you can only earn one Siege Of Cyrodiil Merit per day. Next, you'll need to buy a Siege Of Cyrodiil Recommendation for 1,000 Tel Var at a Tel Var General Merchant in the Imperial City Sewers. Then, combine them together to earn the Runbox: Siegemaster's Uniform, and use it via your inventory.

13 Black Hand Robe

ESO Character Wearing The Black Hand Robe

The Black Hand Robe is one of the best robes in The Elder Scrolls Online, including both outfits and motifs. The default colors for the Black Hand Robe are black and gold, a perfect mixture that looks better every time you look at it. If that weren't enough to make you love this robe, you'll also enjoy its unique shape.

The Dark Brotherhood is a beloved faction, so it's good that you can earn the Black Hand Robe simply by completing the "Filling The Void" quest in the Dark Brotherhood's questline. If you love the Dark Brotherhood and want to show it in a fashionable way, then the Black Hand Robe is great.

12 Courtly Traveling Attire

ESO Character Wearing The Courtly Traveling Attire

The Courtly Traveling Attire is one-of-a-kind for a variety of reasons, but it's primarily because there aren't many outfits that a noble could wear while traveling the different regions of Tamriel. The Courtly Traveling Attire works well for both combat and a stroll through the cities of High Isle.

Regardless of which occasion you wish to wear this blue and brown outfit for, it's one of the best outfits you can unlock in The Elder Scrolls Online. Completing the "A Chance For Peace" mission during the High Isle questline will unlock the Courtly Traveling Attire forever.

11 Sixth House Robe

ESO Character Wearing The Sixth House Robe

The Sixth House Robe is red in color and is fit for any aspiring mage that wants to become a powerful wizard. Any noble or magic-based character would be honored to wear the Sixth House Robe with pride since it's a beautiful piece of clothing. Robes like the Black Hand Robe are unique, but the Sixth House Robe takes the cake in terms of elegance.

If you want to unlock the Sixth House Robe, then all you need to do is find and combine the seven unique pieces of this robe by defeating enemies inside the Forgotten Wastes public dungeon in Vvardenfell. The pieces include the Ornamental Fasteners, Tailor's Bell, Tailor's Sheers, Tailor's Hammer, Incense Of Toolwork, Writhing Thread, and the Patterned Bolt.

10 Dark Seducer

ESO Dark Seducer Outfit Inside Daggerfall

The Dark Seducer outfit offers a striking and unique piece of armor for your character that's easy to obtain. The armor is grey and metallic, so it's different from the cloth look of most outfits in ESO, and you can unlock it simply by leveling up.

You'll gain access to the Dark Seducer outfit once you reach Champion Point 60. You start earning Champion Points upon reaching level 50, so it shouldn't take you too long to earn this costume, even if you're a new player, making this a perfect beginner outfit.

9 Thieves Guild Leathers

ESO Character Wearing The Thieves Guild Leathers

The Thieves Guild Leathers are a simple outfit, but they're perfect for an aspiring stealth build since they offer you the type of clothing a thief or assassin would wear day-to-day. Additionally, this costume is fairly easy to unlock, so you don't have to worry about a long grind before you can wear it.

Once you purchase the Thieves Guild DLC, you simply have to join the shadowy faction to unlock this outfit. Open the Collections menu and accept the "Partners In Crime" mission in the DLC section to start the Thieves Guild questline.

8 Regalia Of The Orsimer King

ESO Character Wearing The Regalia Of The Orsimer King

The Regalia Of The Orsimer King is a piece of attire that you can wear into combat or to a formal dinner with royalty. The base costume is silver with a helmet on top, and it's great for any and all occasions.

Unlocking the Regalia Of The Orsimer King isn't challenging, but it does take a bit of work. First, you need to have the Orsinium DLC, next travel to Wrothgar and start the expansion's main questline. Upon completion of the DLC's story, you'll unlock the Regalia Of The Orsimer King.

7 Arena Gladiator

ESO Character Wearing The Arena Gladiator Outfit

The Arena Gladiator costume is exactly what it sounds like - an outfit fit for the champion of an arena. The upper section of the Arena Gladiator costume doesn't fully cover your torso, and it adds a skirt in place of pants.

Unlocking the Arena Gladiator outfit isn't too difficult, but it does require a grind. You have to complete 50 Conquest Quests in Cyrodiil before you can combine them into the Arena Gladiator outfit by buying the Gladiator's Recognition from the War Researcher at the alliance bases in Cyrodiil.

6 Za'Ji's Dragonguard Uniform

ESO Character Wearing The Zaji Dragonguard Uniform

If you like colors that pop, then Za'Ji's Dragonguard Uniform is for you. This costume is red and gold, with a blue hat to top it off. Overall, it's a much more colorful outfit than other options on this list, and it works well with most other hats as well.

You can unlock Za'Ji's Dragonguard Uniform by completing the "Uneasy Alliances" mission in Southern Elsweyr during the Dragonhold DLC's main storyline. If you have the Dragonhold DLC, then this costume is one of the easiest outfits to unlock in ESO.

5 Mannimarco

ESO Character Wearing The Mannimarco Outfit

Mannimarco is the main villain of ESO's main storyline, so it's fitting that you can unlock his outfit to wear on your adventures in Tamriel. The costume itself includes armor for your torso, along with a shining crown to wear upon your character's head.

The Mannimarco outfit is another costume that you can unlock entirely by leveling up. Once you reach Champion Point 100, you unlock this cosmetic across all your characters. Mannimarco's outfit is a nice reward for reaching a Champion Point milestone.

4 Thrafey Debutante Gown

ESO Character Wearing The Thrafey Debutante Gown

The Thrafey Debutante Gown is a Blackwood Chapter cosmetic. You can unlock it by collecting 50 Scaly Cloth Fragments from the Silent Halls in Blackwood, which you can get by defeating enemies at this location.

The Thrafey Debutante Gown isn't much to look at upon first glance, primarily because it has such basic colors by default. However, dying it can result in beautiful combinations, which is why it's worth collecting, even if you don't like the base costume.

3 Regalia Of The Scarlet Judge

ESO Character Wearing The Regalia Of The Scarlet Judge Costume

The Regalia Of The Scarlet Judge is an outfit in the Morrowind Chapter. You can earn this costume by completing the Scarlet Judge questline in Suran, which is in Vvardenfell. You need to purchase the Morrowind Chapter in the Crown Store before you can unlock this cosmetic.

The Regalia Of The Scarlet Judge is easily one of the best-looking outfits in ESO simply due to its red color pattern and mixture of armor with clothing. There aren't many costumes with the same style as the Regalia Of The Scarlet Judge, as you can see above, so it's worth collecting for any adventurer.

2 Golden Saint

ESO Character Wearing The Golden Saint Costume

The Golden Saint is a beautiful outfit that appears as a suit of golden armor. This outfit looks fantastic on both male and female characters, so it's perfect regardless of what your character looks like.

Like many of the other outfits on this list, the Golden Saint appears in your collectibles after reaching a certain level. You need to be Champion Point 20 before you can wear the Golden Saint, but luckily, it's incredibly easy to reach this requirement after hitting level 50.

1 Emperor's Regalia

ESO Character Wearing The Emperor's Regalia

The Emperor's Regalia is perhaps the most difficult outfit to unlock in ESO because it requires you to become the Emperor of Cyrodiil before you can wear it. To become the Emperor, you need to have the number one spot on the leaderboards of your faction in your specific PVP server, which you can get by acquiring more Alliance Points than anybody else during the week-long or month-long campaign.

After you're at the top of the leaderboards, your faction then has to capture all six keeps around the Imperial City. The fight will be long, but it'll be worth it for all the rewards you can gain, which includes the beautiful Emperor's Regalia costume.
