Jason Trost, the director and writer of the 2011 film The FP has recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to fund the next two films in his "Beats of Rage Thrillogy," FP3: Remix Revelation and FP4: EVZ.  The campaign was launched on August 30 on Indiegogo and has already amassed more than 90% of its $20,000 goal so far. The plot of the first film and its 2018 sequel FP2: Beats of Rage center around a game called Beat-Beat Revelation, an obvious parody of the Dance Dance Revolution franchise, and how it is used as a tool of leverage between feuding parties and individuals in a dystopian society.

While the FP franchise may only be familiar to fervent fans of Trost's work, it has a loyal following that's been steadily growing for nearly a decade. Since the franchise is heavily dependent on fan support, these movies certainly have some sort of appeal for many individuals.

The films, which are being supported by the same campaign, are an attempt by Trost to further delve into the universe he has created. The campaign's page reveals new information including brief synopses of the movies' plots as well as merchandise individuals can buy to support Trost in his endeavors --from DVD packages of his previous movies to cameos in FP3 and 4.

According to Trost, there was too much material he wanted to include into a single movie, so FP4 was conceived shortly after FP3. Compared to the previous two movies, it appears that these films may veer off-course from its apocalyptic gangster genre into new, uncharted territory. Or at least uncharted in the history of the FP franchise. While there isn't much public information outside of the campaign, Trost has been actively promoting the campaign and films on Facebook (and to a lesser extent, Twitter).

Given the film's status as an indie movie and its lack of actual funding, the film may likely turn out similarly to FP2, which was also crowdfunded by generous fans in 2017. A gangster movie franchise that revolves around Dance Dance Revolution either sounds like a brilliantly eccentric idea or just downright dumb. Still, if anyone can pull these movies off, it's Jason Trout.
