A modder has found multiplayer skins within The Last of Us Part 2.

It's pretty well-known that Naughty Dog is currently working on a multiplayer mode for The Last of Us Part 2, one that will likely resemble Factions from the original game. The studio has all but confirmed that it's working on the multiplayer project, leaving fans waiting for the official announcement. Although that's yet to happen, one modder has found some of the most concrete evidence for the mode within The Last of Us Part 2's files.

As reported by Eurogamer, YouTuber Speclizer discovered the armour models in The Last of Us Part 2's files, before being taught how to implement them within the game and show them off. There are three models shown in the video and they all seem to be part of the same armour class, but with different levels of upgrading.

The first armour model is bright blue and has "Police" across the front and back. The second model, which is much more detailed and named "Ellie Level 2 Armour", has Ellie in full riot gear. The final set of armour is similar to the second, but with camouflage painted all over it. The last armour set seems to be a set intended for stealthier gameplay.

On the armour sets, Speclizer said, "These multiplayer armour models for Ellie were left in the game files. They are likely just placeholder models that were used during the multiplayer's development, or it could be unfinished versions of what will be used in The Last of Us Part 2's multiplayer mode".

Speclizer is referring to the fact that Naughty Dog was originally working on a Factions mode for The Last of Us Part 2's launch, before deciding that it was too big of a project and that it wanted to pursue it once development of the base game was complete. These armour models could just be holdovers from when a multiplayer mode was being developed alongside the main game, but it could also be our first hint at what to expect from Factions Part 2.
