The Last of Us Part 1 on PC might be getting a first-person fan mod soon, according to the recent unofficial gameplay showcase. For now, it's unclear when will the project be available to the audience, but it surely looks quite promising already, offering a brand-new experience even for the most die-hard TLOU fans out there.

As with every previous entry in the acclaimed Naughty Dog series, The Last of Us Part 1 is officially playable only in third-person. However, with the game now available on PC, it was only a matter of time until modders will found a way to include other options. After all, even Spider-Man Remastered got its first-person mod recently, so why shouldn't TLOU get one, too?

In this new gameplay footage below, the modders show how The Last of Us Part 1 plays with a first-person camera in various combat sequences, and it's definitely worth checking out. As revealed on the Voyagers Revenge YouTube channel, this first-person mod for the PC version of the game is their own project, and is currently "a work in progress." While this mod still has no firm release date, and will be possibly available only via the creator's Patreon page, it already looks spectacular, with no major visual glitches or other technical issues you would possibly expect.

The demo is packed with bloody action, as Joel slaughters humans and infected enemies alike, leaving nothing but shredded corpses behind. The shotgun kills in close range look especially brutal, as now players can see all the gory details with their own eyes. As you'd expect, players in the comment section praise the efforts, noting how great the mod looks already, and even saying that the devs "need to add this to the game." For all this undoubtedly impressive work, it's a bit of a letdown that there are very few details currently available about this fan project, yet the creators hint more updates will be coming in the future.

After its rocky launch on PC, The Last of Us Part 1 still has a long road ahead towards positive reception among the players. Naughty Dog and Iron Galaxy have been rolling out new patches and updates consistently, including these new themed T-shirts for Ellie, but it looks like the devs have never intended to offer any official ways to play the game from the first-person perspective. Based on this gameplay video, this could well be a shortcoming on their side, as this additional option to relive the classic Last of Us story could've added an extra value to the entire package, which has often been criticized for its pricing.
