The Last of Us Part 1 leaks have been circulating online over the past 24 hours, showing off the intro cutscene and the opening prologue. Many of the photos and clips shared have been copyright claimed and taken down, but the leaks also come with some claims about gameplay.
According to the leaker, there are no gameplay improvements bar updates to animations and audio. We haven't seen any official gameplay footage from the remake yet, but Naughty Dog claims that The Last of Us Part 1 is built from the ground up for PS5 and PC with new models, graphics, rendering, and, importantly, gameplay mechanics. The leaker's claims don't corroborate the updated gameplay, but they do claim that we can expect to see The Last of Us Part 2's accessibility options.
According to the leaks, The Last of Us Part 1 will support VRR, 4K40 FPS (gameplay mode), and 4K60 FPS (dynamic mode). While most footage has been taken down, there's still a screenshot making the rounds which shows Joel carrying his daughter Sarah in front of the Armadillo Theatre. While being copyright claimed might point to these being legitimate, it's worth noting that you can make copyright claims for things claiming to be your work, so take the leaks with a grain of salt. The claims about gameplay also have yet to be corroborated by any in-game footage, so all we have to go on, for now, are the leakers' words. They didn't provide any additional evidence when asked for more information and footage.
The Last of Us Part 1 is a remake of Naughty Dog's hit PS3 title, bringing the guttural zombie dystopia up to speed with modern hardware. It's set to launch on September 2, 2022, for PS5 with the PC version to follow, both of which will include the Left Behind DLC.
