When it comes to PlayStation's PC offerings, they've been fairly reliable in terms of quality and performance. You'll rarely hear about a PlayStation port running poorly on the day of launch, yet that's exactly what seems to be happening with the recently released port of The Last of Us Part 1.First reported by Steam Deck Gaming on Twitter, it appears that players are having to wait for up to 2 hours for the game to build shaders after booting it up for the first time. It's reported that this is causing the main menu to run extremely slowly, yet that doesn't appear to be the worst of the issues.Related: Abby Has To be Jacked In HBO's The Last Of Us Take a quick trip over to the game's official Steam page and you'll find The Last of Us Part 1's user review score sits at a 'Mostly Negative' rating. Looking at the negative reviews, you'll see tons of people complaining about the same kinds of issues, those primarily being high VRAM usage and constant crashes. One user complains about the game crashing every 20 minutes, while another claims the game has crashed 12 times in the space of two and a half hours.

There are a wide range of others issues being reported as well, including an unstable frame rate, extremely long loading times, and displaced audio. Several people complaining about these issues also explain that they have extremely good setups, and that their rigs are capable of running even the most intense titles, suggesting this isn't just a Steam Deck issue.

A lot of people also put these performance issues down to the fact that porting studio Iron Galaxy worked on the title instead of PlayStation own studio Nixxes. If that name sounds familiar, Iron Galaxy was the studio behind the atrocious Batman: Arkham Knight PC port, something which users have been all too keen to point out as to potential reasons for The Last of Us Part 1's poor performance. Hopefully, we'll see a patch released soon.
