The Last of Us Part 1's PC release has been delayed a few weeks. Initially announced for March 3 at The Game Awards last year, The Last of Us Part 1 will now arrive on March 28. According to developer Naughty Dog, the delay is to ensure the game's quality so it may debut on Steam "in the best shape possible."
"Let's get right to it: We initially announced The Last of Us Part 1 PC release would be March 3, but we've decided to push its launch date out by just a few weeks; it will now be released on March 28," the studio wrote in a statement on Twitter. "We at the studio have been completely blown away by the outpouring of love and support for The Last of Us these last few weeks.
"We know a lot of you have been revisiting the story that started it all with The Last of Us Part 1 on PlayStation 5 console, and we realize many of you have been excited to jump in--some for the first time--when Part 1 hits PC. And so we want to make sure that The Last of Us Part 1 PC debut is in the best shape possible. These additional few weeks will allow us to ensure this version of The Last of Us lives up to your, and our, standards."
The Last of Us is enjoying a renaissance, partially due to its PS5 remake, but largely due to the HBO series that premiered last month. The most recent episode, titled "Long, Long Time," tells the love story of Bill and Frank as the pair survive the apocalypse. The episode has already sparked controversy for its unabashed portrayal of queer romance, with show director Peter Hoar saying in a recent interview he intended to show the world that "it's just the same love."
