We may only be a handful of episodes deep into Season 1, but people just can't help wondering what the second season might bring. It was confirmed at the end of last month that a second season had been officially greenlit, and many expect it to show the events of the second game. Knowing that, it calls into question who might play some of the game's most important characters like Dina and Abby.
However, there aren't going to be many characters as important as Lev. Their relationship with Abby is one of the key parts of The Last of Us Part 2, and will undoubtedly be a major part of the show if the second season adapts the second game as expected. Casting will be pretty crucial, although the original actor for Lev, Ian Alexander, wouldn't mind a shot at the role should HBO reach out.
Speaking with Insider (thanks GamesRadar), Alexander says that they're delighted that the show got picked up for Season 2 and they they have their "fingers crossed" that they get to reprise their role as Lev. Alexander also comments on some of "transphobic backlash" that The Last of us Part 2 got and was happy to see Episode 3 push for more LGBTQ representation in the series.They then later clarified to Insider that they "would love" to play the role, but haven't been contacted as of yet.
"I was just so grateful that I was able to be a part of that franchise and I'm so excited that we got picked up for season two," says Alexander. "My fingers are crossed that I get to reprise my role as Lev."
Unfortunately, we don't know yet who will be playing certain characters in the second season of the show, which is understandable considering we're still in the middle of the first. Pedro Pascal will undoubtedly play Joel, while Bella Ramsey recently stated that she's "excited" to play out the romance story between Ellie and Dina, hinting that she'll keep playing the character despite the five year time skip between games. The Last of Us fans also think they've figured out that Shannon Berry will be playing Abby, although that's just pure specualtion at this point.
