Looking to add an icy twist to Link's arsenal in cold weather? Tears of the Kingdom's Frostbite Armor will make great use of the freezing temps.

The White Bird's Guidance is a Shrine Quest that begins by speaking to Laissa, a Rito of Rito Village who can't remember the location of a specific cave that she found once. The only clue you have? A 'white bird,' seen from Vah Medoh's perch.

Updated January 8, 2024: We've gone over this guide to make sure all the information here is correct, and neatened everything up.

How To Complete The White Bird's Guidance

Tears of the Kingdom - Laissa Quest

The first thing to do in this quest is to climb all the way up to Vah Medoh's perch. This is the overhanging ledge that juts out at the top of the mountain in the centre of Rito Village.

To reach the perch, the best way is to Ascend through the various overhands that are within reach from the top level of Rito Village itself. Once there, you'll need to wait til dawn (or skip time with a campfire).

There is a rock on top of the perch - pick it up to find a Korok underneath!

Tears of the Kingdom - Spotting the white bird from Vah Medoh's Perch

At around 6:00 am, look at the shadow that Vah Medoh's perch makes, and check the 'beak' - you'll see a small white patch of snow that looks like a bird.

Glide over there to find the cave that Laissa was talking about. The white bird's specific coordinates are -3954, 2035, 0205. You may need to utilize Tulin's gust ability to make it over there if you have low stamina!

The 'bird's' eye is also a rock that hides a Korok underneath. Pick it up to get a second Korok Seed.

Tears of the Kingdom - The cave in the mountain east of Rito

Enter the cave at the white bird's 'beak'.

The cave is a very simple, short affair that leads directly to Wao-os Shrine.

Tears of the Kingdom - Sniping a Bubbul Frog

Halfway through, though, there is a ledge that leads to an adjoining room where you'll find this cave's Bubbul Frog, so keep an eye out for that. You'll notice icicles hanging from the ceiling right next to the entrance.

Activate the shrine, and enter it.

How To Complete Wao-os Shrine: Lever Power

Tears of the Kingdom - Wao-os Shrine - The initial setup

This shrine can look a little intimidating to begin with, thanks to all the scattered pieces you have to deal with. The aim here is to shoot a ball at the targets in front of you using the plank at the ledge as a lever.

Tears of the Kingdom - Wao-os Shrine - Creating a lever to shoot a ball

You have three objects available to you - a bowl, a ball, and a cube. Follow the instructions below to complete the first part of this shrine:

  1. Attach the bowl to the edge of the 'lever' closest to the shrine's entrance.
  2. Place the ball inside the bowl without attaching it.
  3. Drop the cube on top of the half of the lever above the pit below, launching the ball forward.

You may need to experiment with dropping the cube from different heights to get the force required, but you're provided with as many cubes and balls as you need.

Hitting the first, lower target will unlock the gate next to you, giving you a wooden board. Place the wooden board at the edge of the lever closest to the entrance, extending it, and then move the bowl to the new end.

Repeat the same process as before, launching the balls using the cube, and experimenting until you find the right height to drop it. The extended lever length will make the ball fly much farther.

Tears of the Kingdom - Wao-os Shrine - Launching yourself at the exit

Once you've hit the second target and unlocked the shrine's exit, use the same method as before to launch yourself over by standing in the bowl.

After launching yourself in the air, turn around immediately to find a chest on a ledge in the wall. The chest contains a Spicy Elixir.

With that grabbed, just launch yourself over to the exit properly this time, reaching the exit and claiming your Blessing of Light.
