In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you will no longer have the Sheikah Slate with you; instead, you will carry around the Purah Pad, which is quite similar but with a few extra features. Just like its predecessor, the Purah Pad will greatly aid Link in his new adventure in the Kingdom of Hyrule.

The Purah Pad is given to Link right at the start of the game. As soon as you leave the Room of Awakening and descend to the first major sky islands, a Zonai Steward Construct will give it to you.

Since it's an essential tool for your adventure, the Purah Pad is linked to a practical button on the Switch controller. To access the Purah Pad, simply press the "-" button on the left-hand side of the controller.

The Character Profiles tab on the Purah Pad is particularly useful for those that didn't play Breath of the Wild, as it provides useful background information on each character.

If you played Breath of the Wild, you will also enjoy reading the descriptions of each character because it also explains what some known characters have gone through since the events of the previous game. For example, Purah looks quite different in Tears of the Kingdom, and you can learn why if you read her Character Profile page.

The Adventure Log is a useful tool in the Purah Pad that allows you to see all of your active quests and those that you have already completed.

In the Adventure Log, you can see all quest categories, including Main Quests, Side Adventures, Shrine Quests, and Side Quests. Each time you progress through a quest, the Adventure Log will update and even give you some additional insight.

On top of this, it's also possible to replay all the memories that you have collected at any time.

In the Album tab of the Purah Pad, you can keep dozens of pictures that you take during your time in Tears of the Kingdom's Hyrule.

This is a great way to revisit moments that you thought were worth capturing while on your adventure. It's been slightly improved - this time around the Album lets you save more pictures and multi-select them.

One of the various extensive collections in Tears of the Kingdom is the Hyrule Compendium - it's a feature from Breath of the Wild that has made a return.

This feature doesn't come with the Purah Pad right away but it can be unlocked pretty early on in the story, and you will have to register every single creature, monster, material, equipment, and treasure type in the game in order to fully complete it.

Not long after first descending to Hyrule, Link can explore a Chasm near Lookout Landing as part of the Camera Work In The Depths quest.

Robbie will give you the Camera and ask you for your help surveying the kingdom to learn more about its various creatures and materials, which is also when you gain access to the Album and the Hyrule Compendium tabs on the Purah pad.

Shrine Sensor

The Shrine Sensor is another familiar feature of Breath of the Wild's Sheikah Slate. With the Shrine Sensor, the Purah Pad will emit a sound to notify you that a Shrine is nearby, but there are a few requirements to get this update.

To get the Shrine Sensor, you have to complete the Camera Work In The Depths quest and the A Mystery In the Depths quest.

You can improve the Shrine Sensor at the Hateno ancient research lab as you progress through the game. It'll then allow you to track any creature or objects that you've registered on the Hyrule Compendium, making it significantly easier to find specific resources.
