The sixth chapter in The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum is comparatively short, and serves as a transition between the game's two main areas; Mordor and Mirkwood. The only way out of Mordor is through Shelob's lair, and she considers anything that enters her cave to be a meal!

This guide will help you evade the orcs of Cirith Ungol once again and navigate the spider's domain without getting yourself caught in her web. Escaping from Shelob can be a challenge, so don't give up if it doesn't work out on the first few tries.

How To Save The Grashneg From The Orcs

The chapter starts with Gollum back in his lair in Cirith Ungol. Follow the bird through the small tunnel in the corner and up the shaft, just like you did at the beginning of the game. At the top, you'll see the cart driver, lost in the mountains.

Climb along the wall to the left to follow the cart driver from above. At the end of the path, you'll climb to the clifftop and see some orcs that the cart driver is about to wander into. Jump across the gap and down to the ridge over the orc camp, and push the log to the right over the edge. This will startle the borocs, letting the cart driver know the orcs are there.

Move to the left and wait in the grass for the orc to pass, then crawl past his two companions. Climb down the cliff edge on the right to get past the gate, then lower the ladder on the left to help the cart driver up.

How To Find Shelob

Lead the cart driver into Shelob's lair and follow the path; right, right, left. Gollum will say the directions as well, and you can use heightened senses to choose the correct route. When you come to a chamber, crawl through the tunnel to the right. Hang from the ledge at the end and jump to the right, then backward to the other side.

On the far side of the chamber, there are two paths, both of which lead to the lever that will lower the bridge for the cart driver. The right-hand path is dangerous, as it includes a tricky wall run and jump combo, but you'll be rewarded with a collectible, the Orc Tooth.

Pull the lever, then lead the cart driver further into the tunnel. When you reach Shelob's Larder, start by going left, then to the right. You'll see the entrance to the lair with a bright green glow; go inside and look for a lit chamber on the right toward the end of the tunnel.

Climb to the top of the shaft and through the small tunnel that you find there; in the room with the green orb, drop through a hole in the floor to find Shelob. Gollum and Smeagol will argue over whether to feed the cart driver to her.

How To Get Away From Shelob

After the argument, run toward the screen to escape Shelob. Follow the green markings on the floor for the safest routes, jumping over webs to stay ahead of her. When the path splits, wall run to get past the large patch of webbing.

Gollum's stamina won't deplete during the chase, so sprint the entire time!

When you drop into a chamber below, Shelob will break off the chase. Climb up the rocks to the chamber above and to the left then carefully climb down the other side. If you try to just drop down and catch the lichen as you fall, you'll plummet to the bottom of the cave.

Use the swing bar at the very bottom of the cavern to cross the gap, then climb up as high as you can go. On the other end of the ledge, perform a running jump to catch the lichen on the far wall, then jump backward to the patch behind you.

Shelob will appear again above you; keep jumping backwards without any changes in your positioning, letting gravity do most of the work of keeping ahead of her. You may have a rough landing at the bottom, but don't stop; crawl through the tunnel to the right to start the second chase sequence.

This chase has one particularly tricky section; after the wall run, you'll jump over a web. Next, you'll have to jump diagonally to the left from the green markings on the floor, then immediately jump diagonally to the right. Mistakes will land you in the webbing, where Shelob is sure to catch you.

At the end of the chase, a cutscene will trigger, ending the chapter.
