Preparing For The Warden Of The Forest

Before you reach the Warden Of The Forest, you should know it's a wind enemy, so you'll want to bring nature magic, like Sap Beam, which will deal good damage to the boss. Aside from that, you should bring your favorite recruits to the fight to perform combos.

You won't be attacking the Warden much, but there are some additional enemies you'll encounter, so you don't need specific combos. Aside from that, ensure you stop at every checkpoint during this mission, so you'll have your three potions ready for the fight.

The Arena

As you enter the boss arena, you'll notice that there are four pillars; you can use these pillars to keep yourself safe during the fight.

The boss will sit in the middle of the arena and stay still, so you may think you won't have to worry about missing your spells or attacks since it won't dodge out of the way. However, the boss will sometimes disappear, so keep that in mind as you cast your spells. You can run up and attack the boss, but it resists physical attacks, making them quite pointless for this fight.

On top of that, going up and attacking the Warden will place you in a dangerous situation, so you may lose if you keep doing it. Hold off on using melee attacks for other situations, even if they'll restore your mana, so you won't take unnecessary damage.

The Strategy

It'd help if you immediately used all your mana to cast Sap Beam at the boss, working against its weakness. Once you do that, you can then hijack its magic, launching multiple wind spells at the boss. While it won't deal much damage, you can use it to maximize your damage.

During the fight, purple orbs will spawn on the ground, so you should go up to them and attack them. This will allow you to safely restore your mana to launch more Sap Beams at the boss. They'll only appear occasionally, so do your best to get rid of them immediately, even though they won't deal any damage. They can get in the way as you try to dodge attacks, so keep that in mind.

After a while, the Warden Of The Forest will disappear and spawn an enemy. Immediately hijack its spell and defeat it with melee attacks. It'll give you an x-shaped spell that shoots out nature magic. Wait until the Warden reappears and use the spell on it to deal tons of damage.

For the rest of this boss, you'll be following this general flow to get through it. Always prioritize hijacking and casting magic throughout the fight to make the most of it and defeat the boss.

As you go through the fight, the Warden Of The Forest will perform multiple attacks to try and defeat you. Take a moment to get a feel for its attacks, understand how the boss works, and tackle the boss while avoiding the attacks.

The Attack

How To Dodge It

Red Wind Cone

  • You can run away and try to dash or put one of the pillars between you and the boss. Try to use the pillars when possible since they'll block the damage while trying to dodge means you may take damage.

Four Red Wind Cones

  • You should hide behind pillars to avoid this attack. However, it's easier to dodge than the previous one, so you can move or dash out of the way to keep yourself safe.

Wind Pillars

  • The Warden will send wind to one of, multiple, or all the pillars. Once it does, the pillar will launch a wind spell out, which can deal damage.
  • You should stand away from the pillars with the most wind on them. Since the wind spells can be hard to predict, you should stand behind other pillars to keep yourself safe. However, the spell can shoot between posts, so don't stand between them and stick to the outer rim of the arena when possible.

You should also hold onto your dash during these moments to react to spells and dodge if they come your way.

Wind Ball

  • Since it's similar to the previous one, you'll use pillars to avoid damage. You'll know the boss plans to launch an attack when you see a black hole appear on the ground. The boss will then launch an attack at you after a moment.
  • Keep watching the attack to avoid damage and pay attention when it bounces. If you want to play it safe, you can utilize the pillars as a barrier between you and any spells that may reflect.

If you get those attacks down, you'll understand what you can expect from the boss and fight it accordingly. As a general tip, don't be afraid to use your dodge often to get yourself in a good position and take advantage of the pillars.

Stick to the outer portion of the arena and avoid approaching the Warden when possible.

  • The outer half provides more space than the inner portion. On top of that, if the boss launches any attacks, you'll have more time to dodge them in the outer part and can use the pillars as needed.
  • The outer portion is marked by the circle formed by the pillars, so stay outside of them when possible.

Remain patient and fight the boss slowly.

  • Don't rush in and try to attack the boss non-stop. Doing so will cause you to take unnecessary damage, so treat the boss like a puzzle. Wait to attack and use your magic, so you can safely take down the boss.
