The Matrix Awakens is a new tech demo starring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss as Neo and Trinity respectively. You can pre-load it right now on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation.

"How do we know what is real?" Reeves asks in a brief, 15-second clip. Unreal Engine posted the teaser onto its YouTube channel shortly after the pre-loads went live, although it doesn't show much bar the promotional image - Keanu Reeves' portion of the teaser, however, shows an eerily realistic model, one that looks borderline lifelike.

It's free-to-play so anyone can download it right now and get ready for its launch. It's described as a "glimpse into the future of interactive storytelling and entertainment," and a "boundary-pushing cinematic and real-time tech demo." Well, it's available for 'anyone' who has a new-gen console, that is.

More will be announced at The Game Awards which are being held on December 9 at 7:30 pm Eastern Time. The store page says that "the experience will be revealed" at the ceremony, so tune in if you want a glimpse at this digital '90s world brought to life in an Unreal Engine tech demo.

Aside from that, nothing else has been unveiled - we don't know exactly what it'll look like or entail, or what the scope of Keanu and Moss' involvement will be, but with the awards commencing in only a few days, the wait to find out isn't long at all.

The Matrix Resurrections, a brand new entry into the series, releases on December 22.
