It's currently the scariest month of the year, which makes it the perfect time to sit down and play some spooky horror games. However, The Medium won't be making it to consoles in time for Halloween. Instead, it will be attempting to make the holiday season a little more dreadful.

Today, a new trailer for this mysterious, reality-altering title dropped. It doesn't offer much in the way of new information about the game itself, but it did reveal the official release date.

This video mostly shows off some scenery and artwork from The Medium, along with a new song from the soundtrack. The big news is at the end when we find out that it'll release on December 10th for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. So if you're a big horror gaming fan you now have something to add to your Christmas list.

We still don't know all that much about this Silent Hill-inspired game other than the fact that it looks pretty gruesome. This trailer contains a lot of creepy masks, dilapidated houses, gnarled trees, and blood-red plantlife. The concept of the game is that the main character is a psychic medium - which makes sense considering the title - who can cross over into the spirit realm. Also, this game has nothing to do with the old NBC show Medium, so don't expect Patricia Arquette to show up.

Bloober Team - the developer behind The Medium - has been steadily producing its own brand of horrifying gaming experiences for years now. They were previously responsible for titles like Layers Of Fear 1 & 2, Observer, and last year's Blair Witch game, which our own Bella Blondeau enjoyed quite a bit. While they're not one of the many studios that Microsoft has purchased, The Medium is a next-gen Xbox exclusive with no plans for it to come to the Playstation 5.

Which must be nice for Microsoft since their biggest exclusive, Halo Infinite, has been delayed until well after the launch of the Xbox Series X. The Medium isn't exactly a system seller on that level, but a lack of exclusives has always been a weak point for the Xbox. So having any games ready to launch with their new gaming box can only be seen as a bonus.

We're sure to find out more about The Medium as we get closer to its release date. For now, mark December 10th on your calendar if you want some otherworldly horror to go along with your eggnog and jingle bells.
