Nintendo recently announced that it will be releasing an N64 controller to use on Nintendo Switch and everyone’s palms are getting sweaty just thinking about the pain.

The announcement was made during the recent Nintendo Direct and it was also posted across Twitter on Nintendo’s official accounts. A Sega Genesis controller will be released as well. The N64 controller and Sega Genesis controller will both be wireless and cost $49.99 for Nintendo Switch Online members.

Fans were anything less than ecstatic about this new announcement, as the N64 controller is considered by many to be one of the worst designed and most difficult controllers to play with.

One Twitter user joked about the return of the infamous gloves that were given out by Nintendo in the early 2000’s. In order to win certain minigames in Mario party, you were required to rotate the analog stick at a rapid pace. Because of the design and placement of the analog stick on the controller, some found it easier and more effective to use their palm rather than their thumb. This caused many parents to report their children getting hand injuries - ranging from blisters to friction burns and lacerations. This led to a complaint from the New York Attorney General’s office and resulted in Nintendo providing gloves for over 1.2 million fans.

The return of the controllers come as a result of Nintendo releasing N64 and Sega Genesis games. This will include beloved titles such as Super Mario 64, Dr. Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, as well as Castlevania: Bloodlines, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Streets of Rage 2.

And it seems the controllers aren’t the only thing that seems to have fans worried about this rollout. Recently, concerned Nintendo fans pondered if the European release of Nintendo 64 games on the Nintendo Switch will be running at 50Hz.

In other Nintendo news, the release of the series 5 set of Amiibo cards for Animal Crossing was recently announced. The announcement was made via the official Twitter account of Animal Crossing and although not much information was given, fans look forward to the potential inclusion of favorites islanders - Sherb and Raymond.
