By the time you reach the Rooftops in The Pedestrian, you've got a good handle on the game's systems. The moment you step off the train for the final time, though, nothing will be the same until you complete your journey. The addition of paint makes the Rooftop's challenges some of the hardest you'll face.

Puzzle 53 - Paint Tutorial

The first puzzle you encounter after getting off the train introduces the green paint mechanic. The game doesn't clearly explain how it works. When a sign is painted, changing a connection that resets the puzzle will not reset anything inside that sign, including the Pedestrian.

1. Connect the entrance sign to the sign with a dead-end.
2. Connect the paint dispenser to the metal spout on the top of the dead-end sign. The sign will turn green.
3. Walk through the door to the green sign.
4. Change the door's connection to the exit sign.
5. Walk through the door and jump up to reach the exit.
6. Upon leaving the puzzle, you'll receive the Achievement "The Paint Works Better Than I Expected."

Puzzle 54 - Elevator

1. Move carefully to the left, jumping over sawblades as necessary.
2. Pull the lever at the left side of the room.
3. Jump back over the sawblades and fall down to the bottom floor.
4. Exit to the left.
5. Use the trampolines to traverse the transition sign.
6. The next sign contains a keypad. It works like the train controls.
7. Use the buttons to make the keypad match the number on the sticky note.
8. Once the keypad is set, use the trampoline to get back to the top and climb the ladder.
9. Press the button at the top of the ladder to confirm the keypad entry. After an elevator ride in the real world, the gate will open.
10. Proceed to the right.

Puzzle 55 - More Paint Basics

1. After leaving the elevator, follow the only path available until you arrive at three signs with a paint dispenser.
2. Paint the sign with the lever.
3. Connect the entrance sign to the lever sign and pull the lever.
4. Return to the entrance.
5. Disconnect the door and connect the entrance and exit signs.
6. Since the lever sign is painted, the lever should remain on.
7. Go through the door and use the trampoline to reach the exit.

Puzzle 56 - Twice The Paint

1. After traversing some transition signs, you'll arrive at two signs and two paint dispensers.
2. Paint both signs
3. Pull the lever to activate the platform and the laser.
4. Place the arch over the exit sign - put it near the bottom so you don't pass through into the laser.
5. Go through the arch to reach the exit sign.
6. Disconnect the entrance sign from its paint dispenser. This should turn off the laser without sending you back to the start.
7. Jump up the platforms to reach the exit.

Puzzle 57 - So Many Signs, So Little Paint

1. This puzzle has three paintable signs, but only one paint dispenser.
2. Start by connecting the door directly below the Pedestrian to the only door it matches.
3. Drop down and walk through the door.
4. While you're inside the empty sign, paint it.
5. Reconnect your current sign to the other empty sign.
6. Pass through the door.
7. Reconnect the paint dispenser to the sign you're now occupying.
8. Connect the door in your sign to the door above the exit.
9. Walk through the door and drop down to the exit.

Puzzle 58 - Levers and Keyholes and Paint, Oh My!

1. Connect both doors of the entrance sign to both doors of the lever sign.
   1. This will create a criss-cross so you'll only be able to move through one door at a time.

2. Paint the lever sign.
3. Go through the right-hand door in the entrance sign. This should take you to the lever.
4. Pull the lever, then return to the entrance sign.
5. Reposition the entrance and lever signs so you can pass through the door to your left.
6. Go through the door. You'll find yourself in the empty room on the right side of the lever sign.
7. Disconnect the door you came through and connect it to the sign with the key.
8. Walk through the door, pick up the key, then return to the painted sign.
9. Disconnect the door again and connect it to the exit sign.
10. Walk through the door and use the trampoline.
11. Open the locked door and proceed left to the exit.

Puzzle 59 - Water Tower

1. Use the trampoline to bounce to the top of the sign.
2. Climb up the ladder to reach the next sign.
3. Ignore the button for now and go down the ladder on the right side of the sign.
4. Reposition the box so it's directly over the small platform under the laser.
5. Climb back up to the previous sign and press the button.
6. Go back down the right-hand ladder. The box is now blocking the laser.
7. Use the rightmost trampoline to get the key.
8. Go all the way back to the entrance sign and open the locked door.
9. Pull the lever that was behind the locked door and climb back up the ladder.
10. Use the new platform to reach the exit in the upper left.

Rooftop Hub

After the water tower, you'll climb down a ladder to reach a sign suspended from a crane. Unlike the previous hubs, this one requires you to get the key first before you can search for the other components.

Puzzle 60 - How To Get The Key And Activate The Crane

1. From the hub, go through the bottom-left door with the sticky note depicting a key.
2. You'll come to a fork in the road. The left-hand path leads to the key, but the right-hand path leads to a box you'll need to get the key to the hub.
   1. See below for walkthroughs of both paths.

3. Once you have both the key and the box, jump onto the box and use it to return to the hub.
4. After bringing the key back to the hub, use the trampoline to reach the locked door.
5. Press the button to reposition the crane.
6. After a cutscene, the gates will open. You can now search for the fan and the wire.

Right Path: The Box

1. Paint the sign with the lever.
2. Connect the lever sign to the uppermost door in the entrance sign.
3. Drop down and go through the door to reach the lever sign.
4. Disconnect the door and reconnect it to the only other available match.
5. Go through the door and push the box into the lever sign.
6. Use the box to reach the lever and pull it.
7. Bring the box back to the entrance sign, then return without it to the painted lever sign.
8. Disconnect the doors to reposition the box, then re-connect them the same way (with the lever sign leading to the bottom door).
9. Push the box onto the trampoline without bouncing up yourself.
10. Return to the painted sign.
11. Reconnect the paint dispenser to the entrance sign. This will send you back to the refresh point.
12. Drop down and push the box through the exit.

Left Path: The Key

1. Connect the entrance sign to the sign with the locked door.
2. Connect the ladders in the locked door sign to the sign with the key and the paintable sign with two doors.
3. Paint the sign you've just connected.
4. Connect the exit sign to the painted sign.
5. Return to Platforming Mode and drop down to go through the door on your right.
6. Climb up the ladder to get the key.
7. Climb back down and unlock the door, then proceed down the ladder beyond.
8. Once you're safely inside the painted sign, disconnect the entrance sign.
9. Connect the painted sign's right-hand door to the sign with the locked door.
10. Go through the door and get the key back.
11. Instead of using the key, carry it to the left into the painted sign.
12. Drop down to the bottom-left door and walk through it to reach the exit. You may need to reposition signs so the door works.

Puzzle 61 - How To Get The Wire

1. The right-hand exit from the crane leads to a chalkboard where the wire sits well out of reach.
2. You'll need to get two boxes; one from the left path and one from the right.
   1. See below for walkthroughs of each path.

3. Once you have both boxes, position one of them on the center of the trampoline.
4. Press the button to launch the box upwards.
5. Place the second box in the exact same position, and press the button again.
6. The boxes will stack two high, allowing you to reach the platform above them.
   1. If you get the positioning wrong, push the boxes over the edge and try again.

7. Stand on the trampoline yourself and press the button.
8. Climb the boxes to get the wire, then return to the hub.

Right Path

1. Start by arranging the signs so that you can easily tell which switches pair with which mechanisms.
   1. We recommend putting the main sign on the left, with the smaller signs in a loose diagonal on the right.
   2. Place the laser switch on top, the pushers switch in the middle, and the trampoline switch on the bottom. That way the reminder lines don't cross.

2. Paint the sign with the laser lever and connect it to the main sign.
3. Drop down to the bottom level and go through the door.
4. Pull the lever to deactivate the top laser.
5. Return to the main sign.
6. Connect the main sign's door to the sign with the button for the pushers.
7. Since you weren't in a painted sign, you'll return to the refresh point. Drop down and push the box over the right-hand edge.
8. Go to the bottom level of the sign and push the box through the door.
9. Use the box to reach the button and press it.
10. Go to the left and grab the key.
11. Return to the button and press it again to extend the pushers back out. Leave the key on the floor level and paint the button sign.
12. Bring the box back to the main sign.
13. Reconnect the door to the sign containing the lever for the trampoline.
14. Both you and the box should return to your starting positions, while the key stays in its painted sign.
15. Drop down and go through the door.
16. Pull the lever to activate the trampoline.
17. Paint your current sign using the paint dispenser that is currently attached to the laser lever.
18. Return to the main sign and reconnect the door to the sign with the key.
19. After respawning, drop down and go through the door.
20. Pick up the key and use the trampoline to bring it to the top of the main sign.
21. Unlock the door and push the new box through the exit.

Left Path

1. This path will bring you to the trellis of a restaurant, unlocking the Achievement "They Lied About The Cake."
2. Begin by connecting the entrance sign to the small sign with a lever.
3. Go through the door and pull the lever.
4. Paint the small sign, then return to the entrance.
5. Reconnect the entrance sign's door to the door at the top of the tall sign.
6. Paint the tall sign with the unused dispenser, then go through the door.
7. Drop off the ledge.
8. While you are falling, enter Arrangement Mode and disconnect the paint from the smallest sign.
   1. Be sure to do this after you've cleared the deactivated laser so you don't get zapped.
   2. Reattach the paint dispenser to the exit sign.

9. Connect the ladders and return to platforming mode.
10. After landing on the dotted line, climb down the ladder.
11. Pull the box onto the temporary platform.
12. Climb back up the ladder and detach the sign with two lasers from its paint dispenser.
13. Attach the dispenser to the entrance sign.
14. Connect the entrance sign's door to the exit sign and pull the lever. This will cause the box to drop down to the floor below it.
15. Go through the door and push the box through the exit.

Puzzle 62 - How To Get The Fan

1. Following the sticky note for the fan will bring you to a button.
2. Press it to begin your next challenge; you'll need to get two keys to reach the button that releases the fan.
3. After the cutscene, the gates will open and you'll receive the Achievement "It's Getting Dark With All This Rain. I'd Better Get Back."
4. Once you've caused the fan to drop, press the bottom button again to return to the hub and open the gate.

Top Key

1. When you enter this area, you may see some movement on your left - that's the wire falling from its starting position.
2. Paint the sign in the lower left and connect it to the entrance sign via the ladder.
3. Climb down the ladder and pull the lever.
4. Climb back up and disconnect the ladder. The wire will reset its position and land on the platform.
5. Plug the wire's sign into the cables nearby.
6. Place the arch over the top half of the wire sign and go through.
7. Pick up the wire and plug it into the cable on the left.
8. Drop down, avoiding the sawblade, and plug the other end of the wire into the cable at the bottom.
9. Paint the sign you're currently in.
10. Touch the sawblade to return to the refresh point.
11. Bring the lower-left sign up to the rest of the group.
12. Connect the entrance sign's ladder to the exit sign.
13. Connect the entrance sign's door to the sign with the laser.
14. Climb down the ladder and pull the lever.
15. Paint the sign you're currently in.
16. With the laser deactivated, climb back up and use the arch to enter the room with the deactivated laser. Do not use the door.
17. Once you're through the arch, reconnect the door on your right with the sign containing the key.
18. Get the key, then go back through the door.
19. Drop the key in front of the laser emitter and stand to the right of it.
20. Paint the sign you're currently in. The key should block the laser.
21. Reconnect the door to the entrance sign.
22. Go through the door and back down the ladder to turn the laser off.
23. Go back to the laser room and get the key, then retrace your steps to leave via the exit.

Bottom Key

1. Connect the bottom ladder of the entrance sign to the sign with the lever.
2. Climb down and pull the lever to deactivate the lasers.
3. Return to the entrance sign and connect the upper ladder to the sign with the key.
4. Climb up and get the key, then jump up to the upper floor.
5. Connect the door back to the entrance sign and walk through.
6. Paint the entrance sign then disconnect any ladder to reset the puzzle. You and the key will be safe.
7. Push the box back through the door to block the laser.
8. Paint the sign you're currently in.
9. Connect the door on your left to the exit door.
10. Pull the box through the door, staying on the safe side at all times.
11. Use the box to climb up to the exit.

How To Open The Crane Gate

1. Once you have both the wire and the fan, climb down to the LCD screen via the bottom-right ladder.
2. Install the fan in any empty oval.
3. Using the trampoline, plug the wire into the sockets at the top and bottom of the sign.
4. Leave via the ladder behind the gate.
5. After a transition sign, you'll be back at the sign outside the elevator.
6. Push the button to open the way back.
7. Back at the elevator, the clipboard will have a new number - enter it on the keypad and press the confirmation button to reach the Apartment.
8. After disembarking the elevator, you'll receive the Achievement "Finally! All The Components Are Here!" Get ready for the game's final challenge.
