Ubisoft has announced that Brawlhalla is seeing the stars of WWE added to the already impressive roster of characters. A crossover event will bring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, John Cena, Becky Lynch and The New Day's Xavier Woods as Epic Crossovers in a special SummerSlam themed in-game event beginning today.
Similar to past events, these new characters can be purchased with in-game currency. In this case that amounts to 300 Mammoth Coins per character and 1,200 for the whole set, surprisingly without some kind of bundled discount. With WWE 2K20 set to release in October, this cross-promotional event looks to hype up the next game in the wrestling series.
As with all characters in Brawlhalla, each will bring unique moves and playstyles to duke it out with other players:
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is an Epic Crossover for Sentinel – Signature attacks include a flaming bull, lava, and magma rocks.
John Cena is an Epic Crossover for Hattori – Signature attacks use the ring ropes, fog and camera flashes.
Becky Lynch is an Epic Crossover for Gnash – Signature attacks include a giant green fire fist and a table to send her opponents flying.
Xavier Woods is an Epic Crossover for Bodvar – Signature attacks include his tag team partners, Kofi Kingston and Big E from The New Day.
As for the new game mode that begins tomorrow, Brawldown, players will enter a WWE style ring platform with breakable tables and fun rope physics. The WWE Superstar Epic Crossovers will remain available for purchase following the conclusion of the SummerSlam in-game event.
Each character looks fantastic in terms of the thematic flavor given to each. It's great to see Becky Lynch among the included fighters, having also become the first woman on the cover of a WWE Game ever.
Brawlhalla has seen great success with other recent crossovers. In early June of this past year, Patch 3.44 brought the popular Adventure Time Epic Crossover event. This featured Finn, Jake, and Princess Bubblegum as new characters to the roster, and similar to what is coming with the WWE event, a new game mode and map.
With balance updates made frequently, the game is in a good spot now for new and existing players. Top competitors are still of the opinion that some characters feel stronger than others at the highest levels of play, however this is true of all fighting games.
