The Silver Case, the debut title of Grasshopper Manufacture, is an adventure visual novel game first released for PlayStation in 1999. Set in contemporary Japan, the game takes place in a city called the 24 Districts where a series of strange murders take place, leading two detectives from the Heinous Crimes Unit to investigate the case.

The killings are soon linked to Kamui Uehara, an infamous serial killer who was assumed dead. The gameplay involves text-based situations, point-and-click mechanics, and interactive question and answer segments. The game was well received and established Suda51 as a major force within the Japanese gaming industry.

The 25th Ward: The Silver Case, an episodic sequel to The Silver Case developed for mobile platforms, was released between October 2005 and March 2007. The text-based adventure game, which was split into three scenarios of five episodes each, featured action commands linked to number inputs. The story, set seven years after The Silver Case, follows new characters in the 25th Ward district investigating another a series of murders.

Suda51, who says he is influenced by film and literature, has also developed Flower, Sun, and Rain, killer7, and the No More Heroes series, and has collaborated with other studios on titles such as Guild01 and Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. On August 27, the developer is set to release No More Heroes III, an action-adventure hack and slash game for Nintendo Switch. The game is the fourth installment in the No More Heroes franchise and the third entry in the main No More Heroes series.
