The Escapists was an addictive strategy RPG with a straightforward goal: escape prison. Taking much of what worked in the original game, the sequel took the concept and added far more depth. Fun is hardly ever on short supply when playing The Escapists.

If you were looking forward to a sequel for The Escapists 2, then you might love to hear that The Escapists 3... is not coming out anytime soon. However, the team behind the well-received series is releasing a new title in the similar vein of the prison escapee-RPG. Instead of being stuck in prison, you are now stuck on a desert island in The Survivalists.

The Survivalists Launching October 9th

Team17's spin-off game The Survivalists takes many of the RPG elements that worked so well in The Escapists and transfers them to a fun new adventure. The Survivalists pits you against a procedurally-generated environment where you must, well, survive. Within the upcoming RPG, you'll build your camp as you complete quests that are given to you by a mysterious character. There are even ancient temples scattered across the map that hide treasures for anyone willing to explore the dangerous structures. The best part is you don't have to fend off the wilderness alone; The Survivalists allows for online co-op! If none of your friends are online, then you also have in-game monkeys that you can train to help you out. Who doesn't want a lovable army of loyal monkeys?

The Survivalists will also include a robust crafting system that will push you to get creative and expand your survival efforts. For those of you that may not be sold on picking up a copy of The Survivalists just yet, there is a PC demo available on the game's official Steam page. The Team17 title will arrive later next month on October 9 for Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Plans for future platform releases seem to be in the pipeline, so those of you looking at next-gen or mobile can rest easy.
