The Walking Dead first aired in 2010 and it's still going strong, though much of the fan base dropped. The current season, 10, follows a struggle against The Whisperers, an evil group that wears zombie skin. The comic series, of which the show is adapted, ended in 2019.

It stands to reason that The Walking Dead would branch out into video games. There have been several The Walking Dead games over the years released across numerous platforms. Most of them did not do well while others, surprisingly, turned out to be decent games.

10 Survival Instinct - 32

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct gave fans the story of how, fan-favorite, Daryl Dixon, and his brother Merle Dixon got to Atlanta, which is where The Walking Dead starts. It was really bad. It had a lot going for it, including the show's actors, a good premise, and survival elements but everything fell flat. This game is not worth anyone's time even the biggest of The Walking Dead fans should avoid it. The first-person shooter mechanics are basic and the game design is simply flawed. What a shame.

9 The Escapist: The Walking Dead - 63

The Escapist is a top-down strategy game about breaking out of prison. It combines the gameplay mechanics of stealth, strategy, and simulation to bring an enjoyable experience. The Walking Dead seemed like the perfect crossover with a large portion of the series taking place in a prison. You play as Rick Grimes and take on hordes of 8-bit zombies. It puts a The Walking Dead skin on The Escapist but never dives into what makes the series great. You'd be better off playing the original.

8 The Walking Dead: Michonne - 64

Telltale became iconic thanks to their adaption of The Walking DeadJust like any successful series, Telltale decided to make a spinoff. Michonne is one of the best characters in the series so she was the perfect candidate for a spinoff game.

In the comic book series, Michonne left the group in a previously unexplored adventure. Telltale fills in the gap. The game had the traditional difficult decisions and deep storyline but it all seemed a little too familiar. It followed the same tropes we've seen over and over again in The Walking Dead and failed to meet the emotional high of Telltale's original game.

7 The Walking Dead Road To Survival - 73

Road To Survival is that annoying game you always see commercials for while you're trying to watch The Walking Dead. It is a mobile game about building a team of survivors and developing battle strategies to survive encounters.

It also features all of your favorite characters from the comics and TV show. This is the first decent game on the list and the best part is that it follows along with the series. It's also satisfying to win an encounter after being outnumbered or outmatched.

6 The Walking Dead: A New Frontier - 73

A New Frontier is the third season of Telltale's The Walking Dead series. Clementine, the main character that fans grew to love, is a grown-up, seasoned survivor. For the first time in the series, you play as two characters, Javier Garcia and Clementine. Clementine, though, does not take much of the spotlight, only appearing in flashbacks. By this time in the series, fans figured out that the majority of the choices do not change the narrative. With this fact looming in the background, Telltale's The Walking Dead never reached the height of success from season 1.

5 The Walking Dead: No Man's Land- 74

No Man's Land is a turn-based RPG in The Walking Dead universe. It involves playing missions to collect resources, weapons, and armor to strengthen your base. Just like Road To Survival, you can play as famous Walking Dead characters and explore locations from the show. The main thrust of the game includes building up your base and making sure the residents stay healthy. You also have to make sure the base is strong enough to fend off a Walker attack. This is one of the better The Walking Dead games, which isn't saying much. At least it's free.

4 The Walking Dead: The Final Season - 78

Clementine's story finally ended with the aptly named The Walking Dead The Final Season. It also came out during an unsure time for Telltale, which ultimately resulted in their demise as a studio. Telltale returned to make The Wolf Among Us 2 but with a whole different team. Sadly, The Walking Dead never reached the peak of the first season, but the final season still received average scores. It follows Clementine's struggle to make a secluded school her permanent home in the zombie apocalypse.

3 The Walking Dead Saints And Sinners -81

A virtual reality The Walking Dead game seems like a great idea but history tells us The Walking Dead games are usually bad. Skydance Interactive managed to pull it off. Saints and Sinners take place in New Orleans and it involves scavenging, decisions that affect the world, and, of course, killing zombies. The VR actually works well and makes for some truly scary and heart-pounding gameplay. It's also a full game experience, unlike other smaller VR games, and it's the best action-oriented The Walking Dead game.

2 The Walking Dead Season 2 -83

The Walking Dead season 2 follows Clementine's story after the tragic events of the first season. This time around, fans got to play as an older Clementine who is a more experienced survivor.

Season 2 showed that Telltale can still provide an emotional, character-driven story after the success of season 1. The story focuses on Clementine's survival and the people she meets along the way. It's too bad that Telltale's The Walking Dead got increasingly worse as the series went on. Season 2 is still one of the better entries.

1 The Walking Dead Season 1 - 94

The first season of The Walking Dead was a momentous occasion for Telltale. It put the startup studio on the map and launched many other franchises. Thanks to The Walking Dead, Telltale released games about BorderlandsGame of Thrones, and Batman. The Walking Dead introduced us to beloved characters and had a story that, as many say, was even better than the comics it was based on. The game won the game of the year award and is well-deserving of the top spot.
