The beloved and all-time fan favorite The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt comes with need-to-know weapons, gear, and monsters. Little did people know that the same goes for Geralt of Rivia’s armor. The makers of The Witcher games, CD Projekt Red, did an amazing job with the first two games and The Witcher 3 is no exception.

Geralt of Rivia is easily defined by his unique eyes and icy-white hair, but the armor he wears is also crucial to his identity. With that being said, the armor sets in The Witcher 3 are anything but ordinary. Here are the 10 best looking sets of armor that Geralt of Rivia wears in The Witcher 3.

Updated June 12th, 2020 by Meg Pelliccio: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt originally released in 2015 but despite its age, it's still proving popular with many players. Nintendo Switch owners finally managed to get their hands on the game in 2019, and additionally, the fandom had another boost with the release of Netflix's The Witcher series.

Because of the TV show reminding everyone how awesome Geralt is, many players have returned to play the game, as well as many new fans picking it up to check it out. So if you're one of the players joining Geralt on his journeys once again, be sure to check out these awesome-looking armor sets that you can obtain to ensure he's looking his best.

15 Kaer Morhen Armor

The default gear that players start with is the Kaer Morhen armor and it is this armor that is used in all of the promotional material for the game. It's likely named due to it being Geralt's generic witcher gear and is presumably obtained from Kaer Morhen, the keep where witchers are trained.

Though there are many varied gearsets in the game, it's hard to beat that original witcher look. The Hearts of Stone DLC added a similar armor in a different color scheme so players could keep their classic look while benefiting from better stats.

14 Oathbreaker's Armor

The Oathbreaker's armor is available in the base game of The Witcher 3 and offers up a different look for Geralt with its longer tabard style. This design gives our favorite witcher more of a knightly look.

Though this armor is pretty nice looking as far as this game goes, for players of The Witcher 2, it's a slight disappointment. The Witcher 2 had an armor with the same name that looked far better with a black and white bodice.

13 Hindarsfjall Heavy Armor

This detailed and ornate-looking armor is a standout design that mixes things up from the usual armor look for Geralt. Its visual design is in keeping with the beautiful style customary of Skellige.

The Hindarsfjall heavy armor is available in the base game and can be crafted as well as being available in four other forms that can be purchased or looted, including common, magic, master, and relic. You can purchase the diagram for this from the armorer in Larvik.

12 Toussaint Armor

The Toussaint armor was added as part of the Blood and Wine DLC and is one of the most detailed armor sets out there. The chest plate is painted with a knight killing a dragon in exquisitely rich colors and it definitely makes Geralt stand out from the crowd.

You can find this beautiful armor on the corpse of a knight in the Land of a Thousand Fables area. If you're struggling to find it, a will o' the wisp near Longlocks' tower will guide you to it.

11 Grandmaster Manticore School Armor

The Grandmaster Manticore School armor lands on this list because it's so lovably traditional when it comes to light armor. It honestly has it all - the white undershirt, the protective vest, the earthen tones of the entire suit.

While there are more flashy sets of armor, this one is just admirable in the fact that it simply serves its purpose - its simple, functional, and effective. It's reminiscent of something from Lord of the Rings, another fantasy powerhouse, and it brings forth major quest vibes.

10 Mastercrafted Cat Feline Armor

This set of armor is a decorative masterpiece. It's so utterly stylish - the elaborate collar, the studded gloves, the attractive blue torso, the velvet shoulder pads. This set combines a lot of different stylish elements to make one attractive set of armor.

Not to mention the blue and brown go very well together. There's even a wolf medallion with this set of armor! Seriously, what's not to love about this set?

9 Nilfguardian Guardsmen Armor

This set is your traditional-looking armor set but with a royal, evil twist. Geralt is in no means royalty nor is he an outspoken fan of Nilfgaard but the details into the leather certainly make it seems like he is a loyal ruthless guardsman from Nilfgaard. It's an early set of armor so it's impressive that it is this detailed. It has bolts or studs, straps, and even checkered pants.

Overall, it's an interesting look for Geralt of Rivia and can be enjoyable for those who don't mind becoming a Nilfgaard guardsman.

8 Tesham Mutna Armor

First and foremost, the Tesham Mutna armor is an intimidating set. It looks as if it was inspired by the look and might of a dragon with how powerful Geralt seems in this set of armor (even the sleeves of this set of armor look like dragon scales).

It comes from the Blood and Wine DLC, which is commonly known for vampires and aristocrats, and this suit is its perfect offspring of the two. Its objectively one of the coolest sets of heavy armor in the game and its also the hardest one to achieve (you have to go through vampire caves to search for this armor!), but its worth it.

7 New Moon Armor

The New Moon armor is first seen in Hearts of Stone and looks something Jon Snow would wear in the Night's Watch in Game of Thrones. This armor set is light - there are no heavy sets of chain mail or protection. It also appears to have quite a bit of velvet detail throughout the set.

It's sleek and the brown colors help Geralt of Rivia blend in with his surroundings. His leather gloves and boots also top off the look with some great leather accents.

6 Mastercrafted Bear Ursine Gear

Best suited for colder climates, this set of armor makes Geralt of Rivia objectively fashionable. He is covered head to toe with protective gear made of neutral colors, and what seems to be a long, heavy chain mail that helps keep his torso and legs warm. There's even a great scarf that comes with this set of armor to protect his neck.

It's a perfectly functional suit of armor; it helps Geralt of Rivia stay warm and also helps fight monsters in the iciest of temperatures.

5 Mastercrafted Wolven Armor

This armor is also a burgundy dream but without the heavy plates of armor. It comes with pads, straps, and protective clothing. It's also all nicely detailed in the torso area, with an emphasis on the jacket that comes with this set.

In all honesty, the best part about this set is the jacket that comes with the Mastercrafted Wolven armor. Without it, it may seem like just another set, but the red-accented jacket just ties the armor all together to make one intimidating witcher.

4 Mastercrafted Griffin Armor

How could the Mastercrafted Griffin set not be on this list? In all its green glory, it comes with everything Geralt of Rivia needs to fight monsters: chain mail, an old-fashioned breastplate, knee pads, spikes - you name it. If there is a downside to this set, it could be the protruded breastplate, but that all depends on who you are and your style of armor preference.

The best part about this armor is it kind of comes with all the other best parts of the 9 armor sets on this list. It has decorative accents, eccentric details, elaborate armor, pops of color... No wonder it's one of the go-to armor sets in The Witcher 3.

3 Skellige Undvik Armor

The Skellige Undvik armor is arguably one of the coolest and eccentric-looking armor sets in The Witcher 3. It's also the most colorful of the armor sets, with the Mastercrafted Griffin set coming in at a close second.

It's a set that perfectly reflects the land it's from - a rich culture from the dynamic and beautiful Skellige Isles; it's simply hard to resist the colors and accents for the Skellige armor. Since it's a set made for the winter, it also comes with a jacket, gloves, and boots!

2 Hen Gaidith Armor

Similar in appearance to the Tesham Mutna, the Hen Gaidith Armor is also available as part of the Blood and Wine DLC.  The entire armor set can be found inside the Unseen Elder's cave during the What Lies Unseen quest. This is the only way to obtain this armor.

This awesome-looking armor is heavily reminiscent of the red armor worn by Dracula in the 1992 film Bram Stoker's Dracula. The idea of this is especially fitting when you consider this DLC pack heavily features vampires.

1 Viper School Armor

The Viper School armor can be put into three simple adjectives: professional, regal, and sleek. It takes the New Moon armor and amplifies it with additional padding, straps, and multi-colored layers.

All in all, it takes the hardcore parts of Geralt's witcher persona and puts it on display via armor for the world to see. Add that with the fact that its one of the best armor sets available and you get why the Viper School Armor easily comes in at number one.
