Despite Dandelion's reputation as an irresponsible skirt-chasing narcissist, the bard has proven himself to be a responsible human being when the situation calls for it. One opportunity arises in The Witcher 3 quest "Cabaret". In it, Dandelion attempts to renovate a house of ill-repute that he had just inherited.

He enlists Geralt's help in the process, having the witcher assist him in his schemes to secure the money needed to pay for the refurbishment and with a host of other issues that business owners deal with. This is a far cry from clearing sewers of drowners so, if you are feeling lost, this guide is for you.

Getting A Loan

Dandelion pauses during a conversation at his establishment, the Rosemary and Thyme.

Dandelion asks Geralt for help after his rescue from the Witch Hunters in A Poet Under Pressure, starting this quest. The next time you visit the Rosemary and Thyme, you will get to watch an argument between Priscilla and the bard about the nature of the establishment.

Dandelion will share his dream of owning a Cabaret with Geralt, saying that the only thing he needed is money. As is all too common with the man, he already has a plan for getting it. All you need to do is play along with a scheme he had cooked up. The first step is to get a prop sword from Madame Irina, an actress you met in The Play's the Thing.

Irina can be hard to find. If you are struggling, search the building in the highlighted area. It may appear that she is outside, which is both incorrect and confusing.

Next, you will have to meet Dandelion outside his mark's house after dusk. Remember to meditate at the location if a cutscene does not immediately play.

Fighting Dandelion In Cabaret (Or Not)

Dandelion speaks during a cutscene wearing a ridiculous magenta mask that matches his gaudy clothes.

At the appointed hour, Dandelion meets Geralt and hand over a script. The plan is as simple as it is ridiculous. Geralt will have to play the role of a bandit and threaten Sophronia. Dandelion will swoop in and save the day, giving him the chance he needs to secure a loan. Just in case you forgot what this is about.

Sophronia comes by before Geralt has any time to protest, forcing you to execute the plan immediately.

You do not have to read Dandelion's cringe script and can use Geralt's far more menacing words instead. It will not have a lasting impact on the quest.

You may face a dilemma once Dandelion makes his "heroic entrance". In terms of actual skill, Geralt can easily wipe the floor with him. Unfortunately, the plan is for Dandelion to win. You will have to choose if you will beat the "Crimson Avenger" or let him win. You may also choose to flee the area. Once again, your decision here will not have a lasting impact on the quest.

If you are playing at a higher difficulty and have enemy scaling on, Dandelion might be so powerful that he kills Geralt outright instead of triggering the cutscene that has him spare Geralt.

If he's putting up too much of a fight, you may have to fight him seriously or flee.

With the most bizarre investor pitch set up and underway, Geralt's part has been concluded. The next objective is to return to the Rosemary and Thyme the following morning.

Which Decoration To Choose

Priscilla, wearing her usual red and blue outfit, gives a worried expression while speaking to Geralt

There is another crisis in motion when you arrive. Dandelion has yet to arrive, and the builders have already arrived. They're impatient to start working on the place. The only problem is that Dandelion hadn't told them what to build. Priscilla can't bring herself to choose either. Geralt will need to make the decision.

The table below will tell you Dandelion's preferences. Skip it if you want to keep it a surprise, though you are reading a guide for this quest. Some spoilers should be expected, right?

Theater

This is Dandelion's preferred option.

Boudoir

The term refers to a woman's private room. Suffice it to say, it goes against Dandelion's preferences.

Priscilla's Pick

She will make a random choice. Dandelion will be pleased regardless of her choice. Cute.

When this crisis has been averted, Priscilla tells Geralt that his friend should be looking for his choreographer, Polly. You will have to go to her house to find Dandelion.

Convincing The Choreographer's Fiancé

A screenshot from The Witcher 3 showing where to find a key inside a bucket.

Just as Priscilla predicted, Dandelion is outside Polly's house trying to get in. Her Fiancé is refusing to allow her to work for Dandelion's new establishment, believing it to be a brothel. Dandelion needs to enter the house to convince the man that he is not running such a business.

He tells Geralt to find the spare key so that he can clear up the misunderstanding. The key is in a bucket on the right side of the door. With it, the pair enter.

Dandelion will try to use his charm on the man. There will be several opportunities for Geralt to decide that it is taking too long and step in. Doing so will start a fistfight with the man.

Dandelion will be able to convince Polly's Fiancé. There is no need to resort to violence.

This debacle makes Dandelion aware that his marketing has failed. He agrees to split up with Geralt. While Dandelion returns to the Rosemary and Thyme, Geralt will look for Rautlec, the man responsible for the advertising placards, and see where they are.

Crushing Creditors

A man wearing light armor crouches down by a painting inside a house covered in spilled paint.

Geralt finds Rautlec's home in shambles and occupied by a pair of loan sharks. This encounter will be resolved in a brawl regardless of which dialogue option you choose.

This fight can be particularly difficult because of how small the room is. Keeping track of both opponents when standing at the center of the room is next to impossible. Try to stand with your back to the door to make the fight easier.

Win or lose, the loan sharks will tell Geralt that Rautlec is at the Vegelbud Estate, where you met Triss for the quest A Matter Of Life and Death. Rautlec is by the racecourse, trying to deal with another creditor.

He tells Geralt that the placards are done, but he cannot retrieve them until his debts are paid. He's bet his debts on the next horse race. Should he win, he will be free. Should he lose, he will have to work for a noble.

Geralt has three options for dealing with the halfling.

Race For The Halfling

Geralt will take part in the next race, telling Rautlec to bet on him. His debt will be cleared if you win, and you will also be awarded a Mastercrafted Saddle. The item increases Roach's stamina by 35 points.

If you lose, you can still pay off a debt. It's a larger debt but still possible.

Pay Off The Debt

Rautlec is 200 crowns in debt. This may be a small sum for many players and can be a time-saver.

Leave

Geralt can decide that he doesn't care and simply abandon Rautlec and the placards.

With everything achieved, you can return to the newly-renamed Chameleon to get ready for the grand opening. While you do get the chance to hang out with Dandelion, the opening takes a turn for the worse. This story is continued in Carnal Desires.
