Wraiths are some of the most common monsters that you fight in The Witcher 3. These monsters are created when people die but are unable to move on from the world, usually because of being furious at something. This is not uncommon in the game, thanks to how miserable it is in the Northern Realms.

You can find a haunting in Novigrad's outskirts, where a widow has put up a contract against a monster that had killed several men. This job may not be the most exciting to complete, but it is probably close to what Geralt would consider routine work.

Where To Start Contract: The White Lady

An old woman wearing a modest green dress talks to Geralt outside her house in Farcorners.

There are three ways to start this contract.

Picking Up The Contract

This contract is found in the slums to the south of Novigrad, near Glory Gate, at the notice board.

Visiting Drahim Castle

Geralt can inspect some clues the monster had left at the castle. It is south of Glory Gate.

Inspecting The Bodies

If you manage to find the bodies before starting the contract, you can inspect the bodies to start the quest.

While all three options will have the same outcome, the contract is arguably the most simple method of starting the quest. Pick up the contract and read it for Geralt to receive a quest marker leading him to the person who posted it. She is close by, standing by her house.

The woman explains that the monster in question had killed her husband. A group of men had attempted to employ romantic methods to defeat the wraith, only to be killed in the process. She gives directions to Geralt, helping him start his search.

Finding Clues

Geralt reaches a campfire, surrounded by the corpses of three monster victims in the middle of the day in a field.

The search area is by a campfire in the field. There are three bodies for Geralt to investigate with Witcher Senses. He will deduce that the monster is a noonwraith based on the injuries left on their bodies.

Geralt's Witcher Senses pick up a set of footprints in the dirt leading away from a body.

Noting that he should be seeing four bodies instead of three, Geralt will search for the final victim. Use Witcher Senses to find a set of footsteps leading away from the campsite and follow it. They will bring you to Drahim Castle.

You can find the diagram for the Feline Sword in Drahim Castle. This sword is part of the Cat School set and is suited for melee-focused builds.

Geralt looks at the dismembered body of a slain villager at the bottom of a tower in The Witcher 3.

The body you are looking for is at the bottom of the tower, leaning against a wall. Geralt will conclude his investigation after inspecting this body, prompting you to return to the widow.

Fighting The White Lady

A Noonwraith appears opposite Geralt in a field as the two prepare to fight.

Geralt will need to use an item important to the noonwraith in order to force her to confront him. Fortunately, the widow identifies who the noonwraith used to be based on his description.

The noonwraith was Luzi, a young woman who had committed suicide instead of following through with an arranged marriage. The widow gives Geralt the dagger she took her life with to use as bait. Return to the campsite to begin.

This is a good time to Meditate and refill your potions.

Geralt aims his crossbow at a floating wraith in a field in Novigrad.

The White Lady will appear after a short cutscene and will fight Geralt. She will rely on four kinds of attacks.

Physical Attacks

Like other wraiths, she has a deceptively fast set of melee attacks that look like she is spinning. These attacks hit hard and can quickly kill if you are complacent. These hits may also stun Geralt, making it harder to avoid the subsequent hits.

Dodging is the most reliable way to avoid this attack. Make sure to dodge multiple times to ensure that you evade her attacks.

Turning Immaterial

She will turn immaterial for most of the fight. In this state, your attacks will not harm her.

There are two ways to deal with this ability. You can lure her into Yrden or throw Moon Dust at her. Both methods will force her into a corporeal state where she will take damage.

Throwing Dust

She may throw dust in Geralt's face during the fight. This attack would stun Geralt and obscure his vision.

This attack can be difficult to spot. It is best to maintain Quen throughout the fight to protect yourself from this attack.

Self-Duplication

The White Lady will disappear from the battlefield and make three weak copies of herself. These copies will home in on Geralt and drain his health when he is too close. She can restore large chunks of her health bar if you are not careful.

The most reliable method for dealing with this attack is to fire your crossbow at the clones while keeping your distance. They will die after a single hit. You may also consider throwing Dimeritium Bombs at her.

She will fade away after being defeated, letting you claim her trophy and a silver sword.
