When Henry Cavill found himself on people's screens as Geralt in the Netflix series few could've predicted just how globally successful the show would become. Such is the fervour and fanbase for the adaptation that there are a significant number who are very, very angry that Cavill is set to leave the show, with Liam Hemsworth replacing him as the protagonist for season 4. Meanwhile, the game's creators are tying up the connection with some Netflix-themed additions for The Witcher 3.

With the free upgrade, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt players will find Geralt's armour and sword from seasons 1 and 2 from the Netflix show introduced into the game. Jaskier or Dandelion will get an optional character likeness based on the show's production, which can be switched on from the get go. But the biggest addition is a quest based on the show, which the developers did not reveal many details about on the reveal stream, wanting to keep it a surprise for players.

CD Projekt said more surprises are in store for those re-playing the game after the free upgrade. While the full patch notes will be released, which will include various fixes and improvements, the notes themselves will say "surprises" too so things will need to be fully explored in the game.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition "next gen" upgrade comes out on December 14 and will be a free update for those who already own the game. CDPR has said that Nintendo Switch owners will also see some of the additions further down the line.
