Not bad, Nintendo Switch, not bad at all. The Witcher 3 Complete Edition has surprisingly impressive graphical detail on the hybrid handheld if these screenshots are anything to go by.

That’s right, everybody. E3 2019 has come and gone, but it’s left some fantastic memories for us to enjoy for the rest of our gaming lives. Keanu Reeves was even more of a breathtaking meme than he was before was merely one instance. Banjo and Kazooie’s announcement as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC was another, which the Internet reacted to, in kind.

Elsewhere in the customary E3 Nintendo Direct, we were hit by a treasure trove of wonders. The revelation that a Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel is in development was a game-changer, but there were also a few announcements that we totally saw coming. The likelihood of The Witcher 3 coming to the Switch seemed pretty high before the show, but it was nice to get some confirmation nonetheless.

Geralt’s latest is a fantastic title by any standards, and many fans are sure to want to dive in when it arrives on the hybrid handheld later this year. When it comes to high-profile Switch ports, though, there’s an important question to answer: how’s the game going to perform? The Switch just can’t compete with its current-gen fellows in terms of specs, so how will the games they share compare?

As far as performance goes, there’s a lot we don’t know yet. CD Projekt Red has, however, stated that there are very few compromises being made with the port. As Nintendo Life reports, they’ve stated that they’re “not really cutting anything,” and that “the biggest changes that we made involve the user interface and how you interact is a bit different on the Switch compared to other versions."

A bit of a technical downgrade is to be expected, naturally. The good news is, this is going to be the full experience, and it looks fantastic. These images are fresh from Nintendo’s official site, proudly emblazoned with the fact that they’re taken from the Switch edition. They look relatively gorgeous too, all things considered. It might be a little old, but the game’s shaping up to be one of the biggest and most ambitious adventures on the system yet.
