The "Ladies of the Woods" quest is one of the most exciting and memorable adventures that players can go on in The Witcher 3. It is part of the main questline, which only adds to how fascinating it is, and players will always learn something new about it even while replaying it.

However, there is a lot of peculiar magic and weird occurrences within this quest that made very little sense. Some of these things can be explored a bit more, but others will probably remain mysteries forever.

10 Whispess Has An Arm Sticking Out Of Her Stomach

Whispess has an arm sticking straight out of her abdomen, and it's quite peculiar to look at. Fans wonder whether this arm is actually functional as a limb or whether it's a chopped off arm of one of this crone's victims. It is also notable that this crone has giant hands of her own, which makes it even more strange that she would have an extra arm with her, as her other hands are terrifying enough.

Regardless, it's very weird and unusual that there is an arm hanging out from her body, and fans are quite confused as to how it stays there in place. The Whispess is also one of the creepiest things about the quest, and fans are always terrified when looking at her.

9 Johnny's Voice Was Stolen

Johnny's voice was stolen, and the player has to retrieve it from a bottle. Even Geralt doesn't understand how the voice was trapped in a bottle in the way that it was, which poses more questions than any other plot point in the quest.

It would be very fun to have a spell within The Witcher 3 that could steal people's voices and cause confusion to occur; however, unfortunately, a spell such as that one never made it into the game. Hopefully, this type of magic is explained in the future because Johnny's voice being stolen is one of the weirdest things in the entire game.

8 Ciri Just Happened To Wake Up Before The Witches Are Her

During the cut scene with Ciri, Fans will see that the witches are about to eat her limb before she wakes up and runs off into the forest.

What doesn't make sense about this situation is that Ciri happened to wake up just before they were going to eat her. It is a very illogical and convenient plot point that the writers added to the cut scene, and it doesn't make any sense at all.

7 The Werewolf Boss Can Regenerate Health

The werewolf boss that players have to fight when approaching the Ancient Oak will be able to regenerate health. Werewolves are generally not able to do this within folklore, and it is confusing as to how they have this ability within The Witcher 3.

The werewolf boss is very difficult to defeat because of its powerful health regeneration, and fans are going to have to output a lot of damage quickly if they want to defeat it. Hopefully, werewolves are better expanded upon in the future of the Witcher franchise because the logic behind their health regeneration doesn't make much sense.

6 Weavess Has A Beehive For An Eye

Weavess has a disgusting beehive for its left eye, and most fans wonder why she doesn't pluck it out. It's both gross to look at and very weird considering that a beehive is static and couldn't move there by itself, so fans are usually befuddled upon seeing this character for the first time.

The fact that this crone has such a peculiar body is very weird; however, adding the beehive to the mix makes it even weirder. This beehive for an eye makes very little sense.

5 The Children Run Around A Swamp Filled With Monsters

The children that the player encounters during the beginning of this quest makes fans wonder why they would want to run around in the swamp filled with terrifying monsters.

These children are left with no supervision a lot of the time, and they seem to be old enough to have basic reasoning skills, which is why they should logically stay out of the swamp. However, they continue to play there day after day, and it makes no sense by any logical reasoning.

4 A Spirit Is Trapped Within Tree Roots

The spirit that the player can either choose to let free or kill will be stuck inside the tree roots of the Ancient Oak when Geralt first approaches it.

The weird thing about this is that players didn't know that people's spirits could be trapped within tree roots, and fans are wondering if this kind of magic is possible for a Witcher to cast. It would be great to see this giant tree mystery solved because it's very weird and something that players have never seen in the Witcher franchise before this quest.

3 Johnny Lives Alone

Johnny is living completely alone away within the swamp. It's very strange that Johnny would choose to live this way because although he's not a human and would probably be an outcast to most villages, it's definitely possible that he could find people that would be accepting of him or some of his own kind to live near.

However, it seems it Johnny prefers to live on his own within the swamp, and he's not even afraid of the monsters according to dialogue between him and Geralt. Hopefully, Johnny eventually moves out of the swamp because it's not safe for children.

2 The Ancient Oak Can Control Animals

The Ancient Oak is seen calling upon animals to attack the player and guard its mysteries inside. A tree being calling upon nature has been seen in other mythical fantasy stories in the past; however, that doesn't change how weird it is in general.

Fans wish to employ this sort of magic for Geralt, and that's no surprise because it's a very fun looking ability. Trees being able to call upon animals doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

1 The Crones Hide Inside A Tapestry

The three crones will initially be hiding inside a tapestry when players first come across them. Fans wonder how they were able to get inside of the tapestry in the first place and Control their host when she is near the tapestry.

The tapestry magic used within this quest is wonderous and interesting, but it also calls into question the logic behind the spells used. The tapestry was a very interesting plot point, and fans were glad they got to experience these wicked crones within the beautiful tapestry.
