The latest trailer for the upcoming show The Witcher: Blood Origin has just revealed that Jaskier will be playing at least some part in this prequel to the massively popular series The Witcher. The character played by Joey Batey is mostly known for the song Toss a Coin to Your Witcher. The show is currently scheduled to be released on December 25, 2022.

The news comes from the Comic Con Experience or CCXP in Brazil. The trailer which offers a good look at the "origin of The Witcher saga" surprised many fans of the franchise by featuring Jaskier, a character from The Witcher, a series taking place over 1,200 years later.

"You're a bard. I'm a storyteller. I need you to sing a story back to life," the character Seanchai tells Jaskier. "Are you sure you've got the right man for this,” Jaskier wonders in reply.

The trailer is all about the mysterious monoliths which have been causing tears between worlds, meaning that Jaskier could very well have traveled back in time, but this only represents the most prevalent among several different fan theories currently making the rounds on social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit. According to some interpretations, the character could in fact be immortal.

This comes in the wake of news that showrunner Michelle Yeoh was a “big fan” of The Witcher before joining the cast of Blood Origin. “I was completely drawn into it because this is the original story, why do we have the witcher? Why did we have to sacrifice a hero or heroine to create this witcher that is able to save us all and why did we get to this path?” Yeoh pointed out how "I found that fascinating because this is a story that is a thousand, two, three hundred years ago prior to The Witcher and for me, that's always fascinating, mysterious, and interesting.”
