A new character is going to be joining the list of esteemed crossover fighters in the Souls series this year, as it has been announced that Geralt of Riveria will be joining the cast of Soulcalibur VI.

Namco Bandai made the announcement today through a YouTube video that the protagonist of The Witcher series will be crossing into the Soulcalibur universe. There will also be a stage based on Kaer Morhen, which is the ancient fortress and school of the Witchers.

The video shows Geralt as he appears in The Witcher 3, with his iconic silver/steel sword combination. Geralt uses a mixture of swordplay and magic in combat, which is demonstrated by the use of his Sign magic in battle. He is shown using the Quen sign, which acts as a magical shield, which he can combine with the Aard sign to knock back his foes. Geralt is also shown using the Igni sign, which allows him to fire a burst of flame from his hands, which can be used to increase his range in combat.

Doug Cockle is also returning as the voice of Geralt. He has portrayed Geralt in all of The Witcher games that have been released so far.

It's likely that we see a new storyline involving Geralt searching for either Soul Calibur (to use its power to aid his monster hunting) or the Soul Edge (in order to destroy the evil blade once and for all.)

Geralt joins a list of impressive characters that have crossed over into the Souls series over the years. Link from The Legend of Zelda, Heihachi from Tekken, and Spawn from the Spawn comic book series all guest-starred in the various version of Soulcalibur II. Lloyd Irving from Tales of Symphonia appeared in Soulcalibur Legends. The Apprentice, Darth Vader, and Yoda from Star Wars appeared in Soulcalibur IV. Kratos from the God of War series appeared in Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny. Ezio Auditore from the Assassin's Creed series appeared in Soulcalibur V.

Soulcalibur VI is coming to the PlayStation 4, Steam, and Xbox One in 2018.
