The Witcher Season 2 finally premieres on Netflix in just a couple of days, but the series has already got its most important review. Writer Andrzej Sapkowski, who wrote the original novels, has already watched the new episodes and praised the creators.
Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich shared Sapkowski's thoughts on Twitter, saying that "this is the person I care about the most." There is a photo of Hissrich and Sapkowski standing together, accompanied by Sapkowski's quote: "I congratulate Lauren and her team on their excellent work. Adapting my books is not an easy task. I watched with great joy, and I hope for an even more epic Season 3."
In particular, Sapkowski enjoyed the upcoming season's focus on Geralt's relationships with Ciri. Hissrich said she was very humbled that the original creator loved her work as it's "everything [she] need to keep going." And before you ask — yes, the show is officially getting Season 3.
It's not just Sapkowski who enjoyed The Witcher Season 2, either. Critics have already rated the upcoming chapter far better than the first one with new reviews still coming. The show currently stands at 95 percent freshness on Rotten Tomatoes with 75 out of 100 on Metacritic, promising an even more exciting journey for the fans of the first season. One of the key points being made is that the show is far easier to follow with the story being told chronologically, a criticism pointed toward the original.
In case you're wondering what Andrzej Sapkowski thinks of the CD Projekt Red's games, which tell their own stories in the Witcher universe, the writer actually has a pretty low opinion of video games as a medium in whole. As you'd expect, he never played The Witcher 3 and just doesn't see any substance or culture elevation there. Well, at least he can enjoy the show.
