If you've played The Witcher games, read the books, or even recently watched the Netflix show, then you know about Yennefer. The cold sorceress is completely fine with causing havoc if it means getting what she wants or protecting her family.

While Yennefer may see everything she does as necessary, many other characters in the Witcher universe strongly disagree with her actions. From the time she was introduced in the books, Yennefer has committed several crimes, including necromancy, all to help achieve her personal goals. Below we take a look at the ten worst things Yennefer has done in The Witcher series.

Updated by Madison Lennon on February 15, 2020: Yennefer is one of the most popular characters in the entire Witcher franchise and the fantasy genre as a whole. Many fans are drawn to her because she's not a traditional heroine and is more of an anti-heroine.

She has done a lot of terrible things, but generally only to protect those she loves. Since the release of Netflix's Witcher series, the games, books, and franchise have skyrocketed in popularity. Now seemed like the perfect time to revisit this list and update it with a few terrible deeds perpetrated by Yennefer. She may be a powerful beauty, but she can also be quite the wicked witch when she wants.

15 Supported An Imperialist Ruler To Further Her Agenda

Yennefer is not picky about who she chooses to ally herself with if they have something she needs. She worked alongside Emperor Emhyr to further his interests in exchange for his aide in finding Ciri, who also happens to be his daughter.

While it's clear that Yennefer doesn't necessarily care about Emyhr's political agenda, he is a stubborn imperialist who desires nothing more than to conquer any foreign land that doesn't already belong to him. He is an extremely aggressive ruler who created multiple wars against the Northern Kingdom.

14 Threw A Tub Of Geralt's Dirty Bathwater On To An Unsuspecting Victim

During the short story "Shard of Ice," there is a moment early on where Yennefer dumps dirty bathwater out of a window where it douses a random passerby. It is not a malicious act, more an accidental one, but still, a deed that proves how uncaring and self-centered Yennefer can be when she is inclined.

Geralt returns from hunting a zeugl and stinks of the sewer. The sorceress forces him into a cold bath and then magicks the water out the window, much to the annoyance of those in the vicinity.

13 Advised A Known Racist

In the past, Yennefer served as an advisor to King Demavend III, a known racist, and hater of all nonhuman people, particularly mages. Despite his discriminatory attitude toward nonhumans, he called upon Yen for help from time to time, although she never served as an official royal advisor.

Demavend was an authoritarian ruler who despised the Scoia'tael in particular. He would send armies into their lands to slaughter them and secretly delighted whenever they sought revenge by massacring his own people since it justified his brutal agenda.

12 She Almost Killed A Golden Dragon For Selfish Reasons

In one of the short stories in Sword of Destiny titled "The Bounds of Reason," Yennefer joins a hunt for a legendary golden dragon. Despite Geralt's moral code against hunting dragons because they don't harm humans (and humans are usually the ones to hunt dragons), Yennefer goes forward with the horde intent on killing it for allegedly attacking a village.

Her reasons are simple. She wants to use some of the creature's tissue to create an elixir that cures infertility. She even paralyzes Geralt at one point to keep him out of her way. Eventually, Yennefer has a change of heart.

11 Used Geralt to Get Revenge

In the first English translation book of The Witcher series, The Last Wish, the star-crossed lovers meet for the first time after Dandelion is injured. Geralt finds Yennefer and asks her to heal his friend; in exchange, he will spend time with her that evening, answering any burning questions she may have. Instead of a heartfelt chat though, Geralt soon ends up being used as a puppet.

Yennefer takes control of Geralt, causing him to run around town and humiliate the men who had spoken ill of the sorceress. This eventually ends up with Geralt in jail facing possible execution for his crimes.

10 Played With Istredd's Feelings

While Istredd may not be the perfect boyfriend, he did truly love Yennefer even before she was beautiful. From the moment Istredd met Yennefer, he tried to protect her and even offered to take care of and allow her to live a life full of peace and love.

Of course, Yennefer's response to this was to belittle and reject him, even ignoring the fact that she had spied on him during her magic training. Later on, in the books, Yennefer would show up for spurts of time to rekindle their relationship only to disappear again.

9 Tried To Absorb a Djinn

Why did she get Geralt locked up and almost killed though? The answer is simple; she wanted to absorb the djinn he had found. That's right, instead of simply trying to make a wish, she wanted to absorb the creature into her body so that she could utilize its power as her own.

Not only was this plan risky to her, but she had no qualms about continuing after Geralt showed up and was put in harm's way while trying to save her. She even forced Geralt to hastily make a wish so that the djinn would be weakened enough for her to not be destroyed by trying to control the monster's power.

8 Gave Geralt a Cold Reunion

You would think that after Geralt saved Yen's life, she would become a little more compassionate towards the Witcher. The next time she meets him, though, Yennefer does little more than parade around her newest man, who she is only using to steal a dragon's heart.

This is another point in the series that points to the fact that Yennefer is more obsessed with her own goals than those around her. Whether it be playing with the hearts of honest men or showing little to no emotion towards those who saved her, the sorceress has little emotional warmth to give.

7 Destroyed Geralt's Property

Once Yen and Geralt had a solid lead on Ciri, she returned to Kaer Morhen to begin preparing to undo Uma's curse. Instead of politely walking in, she disregards the other Witcher's request and goes straight to Geralt's room to begin her work.

When she arrived in the room, Yennefer proceeded to use magic in order to send Geralt's bed flying out of the window. Not only could this have injured someone, but her reasons were also purely based on her jealously towards Triss, who had clearly taken advantage of Geralt when he had amnesia.

6 Threw Geralt Into a Lake

Upon realizing he no longer had a bed to sleep in, Geralt approached Yen to try and talk things out. This, of course, didn't end in their issues being resolved as she opened a portal under Geralt's feet.

While she did drop him into a lake, if her portal was above land, the length of the drop could have easily killed or seriously hurt Geralt. After Geralt swims out of the lake to talk to her once again, she mentions that maybe she should have teleported him a bit higher since it was a view to die for.

5 Harbored Misplaced Rage About Triss & Geralt

As we've discussed above, when Yennefer is reminded of the relationship that occurred between Triss and Geralt, she can become enraged to the point of lashing out at the man she supposedly loves. Not only does she throw him in a lake, but she even threatens to kill him -- although it's doubtful she would have gone through with it.

It's understandable why she would be upset about the tryst between Triss and Geralt, but Triss took advantage of the witcher when he had amnesia. Yen's rage isn't warranted, if anything she could be sullen or not want to discuss it, but screaming at Geralt for something he didn't have much control over isn't one of her best qualities.

4 Betrayed Her Mentor

Yennefer has been betraying people in her life since she was young. Her mentor, Tissaia, took her in, taught her magic, and tried to make sure Yennefer got a job in a good kingdom with a handsome king. This, of course, wasn't the job Yennefer wanted and ended up abandoning it later on.

Yennefer then went against her mentor even more by making a ruckus in a small town. Tissaia offered Yennefer several opportunities to return to the brotherhood but was met with little more than insults and harsh words.

3 Used The Mask of Uroboros Without a Second Thought

In her search for Ciri, Yen and Geralt had to travel all across Skellige to find her trail. The pair ended up stealing a mask that could help them see into the past. Little did Geralt know that the Mask of Uroboros also caused a disaster to occur when used.

When the pair use the mask, Ermion appears to warn them that the mask will cause destruction to all of Skellige and can only be used once. Instead of debating on using the mask though, Yennefer walks off as Geralt is arguing and activates the dangerous tool.

2 Killed The Sacred Tree

Not only did Yen take the risk in sinking Skellige, but she also destroyed the sacred Garden of Freya. While Geralt and Yen are searching for Ciri, they enter the garden to find a man who had supposedly been in contact with her. Sadly, the man had passed away, seemingly ending the trail

Unsatisfied with the roadblock, Yennefer drained the holy garden's power to use necromancy on the corpse. Not only does this torture the poor man, but it quickly kills the whole garden. Yennefer's even mentions before performing the spell that she doesn't care if she makes enemies; she only cares about the feeling of those close to her.

1 She's Obsessed With Power

Yennefer's biggest downfall is her obsession with having more power. She is quoted several times as saying the word "everything" in response to those around her asking her what she truly wants. In many early stories, Yennefer is seen manipulating those around her and putting Geralt in danger.

Yen doesn't care who she has to stab in the back or what she needs to do as long as she gets her way and can grow stronger in the process. Many fans even wonder if she would have ever truly developed feelings for Geralt if it hadn't been for his wish that bound the two together.
