Destroy All Humans came out fifteen years ago in 2005 for the PS2. It was one of many games of this generation that tried to capitalize on the hype around Grand Theft Auto III and its sequels. Because it came out so late in the life cycle, many might have missed this game.

So for all of those that are new to this game and series overall, it might be worth knowing what Destroy All Humans actually is. The following ten entries will go through some tips to help with the beginning hours along with go through what exactly is different with this PS4 remake/remaster.

10 What To Expect

As one might expect from a remaster, the graphics have been improved. Not only that but the art style has also changed. This means it is not a 1:1 remake. For example, humans now look more cartoon like and exaggerated compared to their more “normal” interpretations in the original.

There are a lot of quality of life improvements as well like button placement being more attuned for the player. There is also an extra mission that was cut, but other than that there isn’t much new. Even the dialogue is the same.

9 Not Quite Open World

Despite it borrowing heavily from the PS2 entries of Grand Theft Auto, this is not a strict open-world adventure.

That is to say there are several areas to explore, but they are segmented off from each other making the game more like a set of hub worlds akin to something like Super Mario 64. Missions are also bite sized in nature which last for only about five minutes. This can lengthen depending on failure which may happen a lot.

8 Upgrade Tips

One of the first upgrades players should unlock is for the brain. This will make extracting them from humans faster. As a quick explanation, brains hold DNA similar to the aliens.

They then use this DNA for research which plugs into upgrades. Players can earn large amounts from missions, but they can also get a good chunk of DNA from harvesting random humans as previously stated.

7 Death Isn’t The End

Also previously mentioned, players may die a lot. The action segments aren’t that tricky as Crypto has a lot of gadgets to work with.

However, mission objectives can be very picky and checkpoints can range from amazing to terrifying. Death may be certain, but worry not. All DNA gathered before death is saved so at least there is some sense of reward even in death.

6 Replay Areas If You’re Having Trouble

If one can’t get past a certain mission than it might be a good idea to exit out. DNA also carries over in this way as well.

In order to win one might have to grind a few missions, or open areas in order to upgrade Crypto. Once upgraded, this may help win the war as it were. If all else fails there are always helpful FAQs or videos online to prove a few helpful tips.

5 Disguise Tips

This is not spelled out as clearly as it should be in the tutorial but there is a way to stay in disguise better. When using the Holobob, acting suspiciously may make Crypto look like he is devolving into his normal state. One can prevent this from happening by stealing a new disguise.

The downside to that is that someone might see him and it fails. The better way is to mind read random NPCs. There is an upgrade associated with this so it is also a must for early upgrade tips.

4 Stick To Roofs

Prior to Assassin’s Creed, Crypto was the master of rooftops. Thanks to his trusty jet pack, it is quite easy to follow people using this roof hopping strategy.

This won’t always help as sometimes missions require on foot pursuits, but it can aid in a majority of functions. It can also be good for waging war while avoiding enemy fire.

3 Always Brain Drain

Another helpful tip regarding the brain drain is to link them with Crypto’s standard zapper. If performed right, these brain drains will link together. It can also help get the brains out faster.

Simply cast the ability, kill the enemy, and voila, it’s brains for dinner. The more upgrades placed on these two sections, the easier it will become to link these kills together for maximum harvesting.

2 Don’t Forget The Ship

It is also not important to forget about Crypto’s ship. Most of the game will be played on foot, thus it is a good idea to upgrades his ground gear more.

However, there are some sections of the game where boosting the ship’s power will be beneficial as well. Start with the shields and adjust how quickly the weapons recharge first.

1 Podcast And Conquer

The story is pretty one note in that it tries to be edgy with jokes. It’s one of those PS2 games that is more fun to play and experiment with than it is to invest time with the lore.

That’s why it is recommended to mute this remaster, listen to some music and podcasts, and chill. This might be an odd tip, but it really is a good time to mess around with more so than it is a good game if that makes sense.
